Insurance

I have been trying to locate an insurance agency/broker for my truck. It is NOT FOR HIRE and has farm tags that will expire in November. Everyone is trying to sell me a commercial policy. Any suggestions? I only use this truck to transport my car to and from the local drag strip in Ohio.

Have you checked to see if you can add it to your current auto policy?

Thanks for the reply, however I did try to add the truck to my auto policy with Nationwide and they do not cover large trucks. I have tried Progressive, American Family, Geico, Schneider, among other broker insurance agents and no luck. They either do not cover that type of vehicles or want to list it as a commercial truck 80,000 lb combination unit with the minimum liability coverage of $500,000. The cheapest was for $1,900 year or $1,000 for 6 months. Sounds expensive to me for only using it as a car hauler for no more than 25 miles round trip.

Try State Farm

Some policies used to cover the insured driver no matter what they drive. I don't know if any of them do that any more. You might check with OOIDA's insurance department to see if they might have something that could work for you. Their main number is 800-715-9369.
