Another great has passed away
'Golden Girls' star Bea Arthur dies at 86 -reports Sat Apr 25, 2009 10:14pm BST (Adds details, background) By Dan Whitcomb LOS ANGELES, April 25 (Reuters) - Emmy Award-winning actress Bea Arthur, best known as star of the hit TV comedies "Maude" and "Golden Girls," has died at age 86, entertainment news websites reported on Saturday. Arthur, a longtime stage actress whose comic timing and deadpan delivery were a perfect fit for her sharp-tongued roles on the two series, died of cancer at her Los Angeles home, celebrity website TMZ reported. Representatives for the actress, who won best-actress Emmys -- America's top television award -- for both "Maude" and "Golden Girls," could not immediately be reached for comment. CNN also reported her death. Sad to see another great from the best television show ever pass away. At least Estelle Getty has someone to hang out with now. |
She was one of my favorites. I would have liked to have seen her one-woman show.
Elaine Stritch is another...one of the "tough broads", and a heck of a lot of fun. RIP Dorothy. |
FYI- She also was one of the first women Marines..

Can't Marilyn Chambers get no respect on here?
|
Wow! I'd forgotten about Golden Girls. They were funny.
RIP. |
It's sad to see that she has passed, but she definitely left her mark in this world and provided us with endless entertainment. At 86yo I would like to think she lived a full life and I am sure she's in a better place now.
RIP Bea |

I didn't know that she had been a Marine. She always handled herself with grace and never seemed to take herself too seriously. I think Rue McClanahan and Betty White are still living. They all had good chemistry on "The Golden Girls." |
I hated that show with a passion when I was a kid.

I liked her better in Maude.

"RIP" Blue Iris

She rode the Sybian on April 6, 2006, and sidelines as a stand-up comic who performs weekly with her comedy troupe 'The Ding Dong Show'. She reportedly had shock therapy in her 20s which she blames for her many ailments. Iris's popular catch phrases (used during Stern Show prank phone calls) include "I love a black cock", "Can I put my finger in your ass?", "This is better than rejuvenation" and "I'm getting myself hot!" Her first Stern Show appearance occurred on February 4, 2004, but was not until Stern's show went to Sirius Satellite Radio in 2006 when Iris finally gained Wack Packer status. On October 18, 2006, Artie Lange engaged in a ten second French kiss on-camera with Blue Iris, to settle a bet made with pro wrestler Chris Kanyon when the New York Yankees failed to advance past the New York Mets in the 2006 Major League Baseball playoffs. On January 30, 2007 "Howard 100 News" (on Howard Stern Sirius channel 100) reported that Iris was hospitalized after suffering a stroke. On January 31, 2007 she called Stern's show to explain that she was experiencing weakness on her left side, as well as impaired verbal and math skills. |
