There are also some new ones west of Dickens on top of the caprock. |
No wonder why I always liked Texas so much and always wanted to live there.

Not that Texas has ALL that much to look at anyway.... but, ANY part of the country that can claim MORE windmills than even just Palm Springs and Tehachapi combined, can kiss their tourism industry goodbye forever! I understand the need for "green" energy sources in America, but I just don't understand why the NIMBY forces haven't coalesced against this BLIGHT on our precious landscapes! I wish I could "photoshop" so I could prove my point. Put a "stand" of these monsters in front of Mt. Rushmore or throughout the Grand Canyon and perhaps you'll see what bothers me! What? The wind doesn't blow on remote BLM lands? |

Well, that's ONE part/district of Texas that can "write off" any chance at a TOURISM industry! :hellno:

GMAN, thank you. I am flattered that you have mentioned Texas' Independence Day. Yes, GMAN.. There is a reason why Tennessee is the Volunteer State. This is silly, but anytime I happen to catch the Vols play football on TV, I think about the 23 men from Tennessee that fought for my freedom. I have learned over the years that Tennessee earned their nickname from the War of 1812, but in the hearts of Texans, it's because of the faithful men that gave their lives for Texas.

Thank you GMAN for thinking of all of us Texans. Not only do we have the prettiest country, and the most cows, prettiest girls, we do have pride in our state, because we got our freedom from a few good men. (I made that up :p I think of Texas daily. I married a 7th generation Texan. No matter where we live she is and shall ALWAYS be from Texas. :D |
haha. That's cool, GMAN.

If anyone asks her where she is from she always says Texas. Keep in mind that we have been married for 29 years this month and lived in the Volunteer during most of that time, but she is still from Texas. We thought about moving back to Texas but she doesn't think she can take the heat and humidity in Houston any more. If we did move back then we would probably move somewhere around the Metroplex. But then I would need to deal with all that traffic. I have a couple of sisters who live up there and it would be great to be able to visit more frequently. What I need to do is buy some land in Johnson County and find a good gas pocket. |
