Trucker Forum - Trucking & Driving Forums - Class A Drivers - Valentine's Day e-mail worm (another "alert" post, sorry)

The TTU IT Division has received industry and state warnings regarding a new computer worm that poses as a Valentine’s Day e-Card, delivered through electronic mail. The scam e-mail includes a link that purports to direct readers to the location of their electronic greeting card. If you click on the link, the virus is downloaded and installed on your computer. Once the virus has infected your system, your system becomes a host to spread the virus to other computers through your email. Your best defense is to delete the message immediately.

The TTU IT Division recommends the following safe computing practices to protect yourself from this and other e-mail scams:

Do not click on links contained within an e-mail unless you are certain of the sender’s identity and expecting the information;

Do not open attachments unless you are certain of the sender’s identity and expecting the information;

Delete and do not reply to any of these e-mails;

Update your anti-virus software; and

Keep current on critical system updates.
