Mid-America Trucking Show March 19-21/Louisville

Just wondering how many on the board are planning to attend MATS at Louisville?

Sure seems like a nice chance to get together and meet up with some fellow CAD folks?

A perfect time to get together for some fun and/or settling some scores!

Belpre's in for either the 20th or 21st. Anyone else planning on making the trip?

Maybe we could arrange a meet up for those that might be interested?

Some words of advice for those who are planning on going.

1. Register online well in advance. If you wait to register until you get there expect to spend a lot of time standing in line waiting to get in.

2. Wear some very comfortable walking shoes.

3. If possible try to attend at least 2 days. It is very hard, if not next to impossible to take everything in on a single day.

4. If you are thinking about staying in a motel get your reservations in NOW, the longer you wait the farther out you are going to have to stay. Many people book 6 months to a year out, and this does not include all of the vendors and other reps who attend.

MATS is the largest and probably the best truck show of them all.

I have attended twice. The first year I went, I registered online. The second year I went, I registered in person. Both years, it took me about the same amount of time to get in. If you're not coming until Saturday, then registering online would be faster. If you are attending prior to that, then the lines are usually very short.

CAD will have a booth there.

Great advise Uturn. We plan on attending again. Went over last year and took the kids, it was a great time for everyone. There is plenty to do and see and I don't think anyone cold stay and see everything in just one day. We didn't make hotel reservations last year and stayed about a half-hour away. It was a very nice hotel with cafe. If your taking the kids and looking for a good place to take them to eat, I'd recomend Joes Crab shack on the river. They usually have a bit of a wait but we got a seat next to the windows and could watch the barges up and down the river and they loved that (at least it kept them entertained for a hour or so for peace and quiet.)

Last year OOIDA sent out free tickets in the mail for the show. Does anyone know if they are doing that again this year? I know usually at MATS they have a discount on membership to 25$.

The first year I attended, I stayed about an hour away. The rates were very good, too.

Tickets to MATS are free to anyone who holds a CDL, as long as you register prior to attending. But even if you don't want to register, every trucking mag will have ads for MATS in it, that if you bring in the ad, you get in free.

To bad a lot of sponsors are not even going to be there this year. Mainly Pac-car and many others.
