Obama lowering expectations???
 

I think it was sometime last week, a reporter asked Obama if his idea of "spread the wealth" wasn't a take off of Marxism, and the station was banned. (No, I do not know much about it, only that it happened. So much for free speach.)
Now, this comes across in the news...

He says he believes people are expecting more than he will be able to deliver, but it sounds like he was making promises that he KNEW could not be kept. But, this close to the election, he may be thinking that it won't make a difference to the outcome anymore. Does anyone else get this?

Obama supporters... You want to take my head off for this, go ahead. Use fangs dripping venom, go ahead. You'll be the ones talking out the other side of your faces after the election.

I think it's nutz. They need to hang up some new signs.

I don't think my expectations from Obama could get any lower. They have always been at rock bottom.

Put it to you this way my expectations ofg Obama are lower than my Ex-Wife and she in my eyes is at the bottom of the Marianas TRENCh so he would be over 35 thousand feet BELOW SEA LEVEL. He has buried the whole nation in so much BS that I am amazed the bulls are not running over everyone trying to mate with him.

i bought some tin foil just to make myself a hat, or two, or few. a couple weeks ago at the tulsa, ok flying j, i was sitting in extremely close proximity to some real nutters. a tin foil hat was needed.

I can't believe so many people could be so gullible to think that he is going to give them so many things for free. :roll: Someone has to pay the bill for all those "freebies." It started out that only those who earn over $250,000 will get a tax hike. Then it was $200,000. Next time it was $150,000. Someone mentioned yesterday that it is now down to $120,000. If he gets elected we will all pay a price. We will all get a tax increase. His higher taxes will result in a slower economy and lower productivity. Socialism has failed in every single country where it has been attempted. The only thing that works in the long term is freedom and democracy. Obama has out spent McCain 6 to 1 and according to the polls (if you believe them) it is still a close race. That in itself should tell some people something. The difference in money he has spend compared to McCain should have resulted in a huge lead. Perhaps some people are waking up and seeing him for what he is. We don't need more government or higher taxes. What we need is a much smaller government at all levels and lower taxes. Less government requires less taxes.

Although Obama has campaigned like Kennedy, he will govern like Clinton. This is not my idea, but something I saw on one of the discussion programs. It is a wise strategy. Prepare for eight years of Obama. That is fine with me.

Hi Larry. Good to see you. But, you may have to explain this concept to the Conservatives here. Some of them are so rabidly "right wing" that they don't understand the concept of a Centrist government. Heck, HALF of them weren't even going to VOTE for the "centrist" McCain until he picked a gun toting, war mongering extremist like Palin!

Many of them are MORE concerned with our bedroom politics than they are about National Security or Social Security! Many of them would have bet their huge farms (land holdings) on Bush's plan to privatize S.S. a year or two ago, only to have lost their OWN retirements when the stock market crashed!

And as for those millions of Americans, many who have fought for them in Iraq, who depend on government regulation of retirement income....they would let them "eat cake."

They think they have some "moral majority" on issues, but they are as helpless as the rest of us. They just don't KNOW it. They don't realize that, until they HELP raise the lower class out of poverty and into a tax payiing status, THEIR taxes cannot be lowered!

I really don't understand them. If they were educated, they would know that NO man is an island! Yet, they continue to vote and protest as if they think they ARE! How far do they think they can push the blue collar man before he rebels and cuts their ugly heads off?

They are a fearful bunch! They fear Socialism, though it isn't even a possibility in this country.

They fear a weak national defense, though our military is the strongest in the world and will continue to be so.

They fear gun control (confiscation) though no democrat has proposed anything other than policies that would help prevent CRIME and save the lives of our POLICE officers! (and citizens)

And they fear higher taxes, although they will receive a tax credit under Obama and would be TAXED for their health care under McCain.

They really don't understand the issues, they just REACT to the words they have been taught to hate.

Some of us feel that it is up to us to provide for our own retirement. It isn't the responsibility of government to send us a check when we retire. Even with the current down turn many people would still be better off with their investments rather than relying on Social Security. If it were so great then why do government employees exempt themselves from social security?



You cannot force people to get a decent education or learn a trade. The main problem we have in this country is that we have too much government which takes too much of our money to support. If people could keep more of what they earned they could probably still earn a living on minimum wage. When I grew up many people did buy a home, have a family and put their children through school while earning minimum wage. Until people stop looking for someone to bail them out things won't change. People need to start accepting responsibility for their own families. If you have children then you should be prepared to take care of them.

I hope the blue collar man and woman is getting fed up. I hope they are fed up enough to tell the government NO MORE. No more taxes. No more government give aways. No more paying people not to work.

Our taxes could be lowered if we reduced the size of government. If we went back to a constitutional government we could reduce taxes and more people could live a higher standard of living without a significant increase in their gross income. The reason many have difficulty in earning a living on minimum wages is high taxes. Frankly, I am not sure there are really that many people (proportionately) who are working for minimum wage. Minimum wage was never designed to be the stopping point for a worker. It was primarily designed as a means of entering the work force and as a stepping stone to a better paying positions as one gained experience. Workers must demonstrate their value to their employers. Companies are not willing to pay people who cannot perform.

I wish socialism were not possible in this country. Twenty years ago I would have agreed with you. Today, I am not so sure, especially with the latest bail out of Wall Street. The bail out itself was socialistic. It had nothing to do with the free market. Welfare is also socialistic. When you pay people to not work it is called socialism. Socialism has been creeping into our government for many years. It has happened at such a slow rate many have not even recognized what was happening. I dare say that many who read this post will not even understand what true socialism entails. FDR essentially started socialism in this country with his social security program.




Our military is not what it was a few decades ago. The advantage we have is in technology and the spirit of the American military personnel.

There have been democrats who have suggested disarming American citizens. Why to you think there has been such a debate over the 2nd amendment? Many democrats can't even understand that our constitution allows the citizenry to be armed. They only want the military and police to be armed. Disarming certain areas of the country has put law abiding citizens in danger with higher crime rates. Criminals will get guns no matter what laws are in place. Democrats or should I say liberals, are all about power. They want centralized power in government. They want citizens to fall in place and go along with their program. The problem is that they just don't get it. They really don't understand how things really work. Big government will never work in the long term. There is no motivation to perform in government.

There is no way Obama can put all the programs in place without raising taxes on ALL Americans. It just won't happen. The top 5% or so cannot support the 95%. I don't understand why people want people who earn more than them to pay higher taxes. If we had a truly fair tax system we would have a flat tax for everyone. To tell you the truth, I would rather see the income tax come to an end in this country. If we reduced the size of government to that established by our forefathers we would be able to reduce taxes for everyone. At one time we supported our government with excise and property tax. You could not even vote in many areas of this country unless you were a property owner. Frankly, I think it would be best for the country if we went back to this type of taxation. We could eliminate the IRS and many other government agencies saving our government many billions of dollars. Remember, we only need high taxes to support a bloated government. People would have more money to spend to keep the economy going.
