Where is the Rev?

I thought it seemed rather quiet in here, then it dawned on me: No Rev posts lately.

Checked his stats:

"Most Recent Message: 10-07-2008 01:53 PM"

Highly unusual.

Hope he's OK.

Trukrswyfe 10-11-2008 02:02 PM

It is Saturday, maybe it was his turn to lead Mass.:D

;)

mommee 10-11-2008 02:22 PM

i don't think he is catholic.;)

I wouldn't know. sorry.

It was just a guess.:)

marylandkw 10-11-2008 02:26 PM

I have noticed since the switchover this place seems alot less lively.

I doubt the Rev could be scared off by it, but who knows.

golfhobo 10-11-2008 03:02 PM

Not sure where you got your stats. I'm showing 10-09-08 @ 10:11pm EST. That was thursday night. I believe he DOES drive a few days a month..... not sure. :D

i don't think some of the regulars came back after the change. maybe the gliches in the beginning, like the mass bannings, put some people off. i know i waited a few days before attempting to sign in again after i got banned.

belpre122 10-11-2008 11:24 PM

I bet ya I could liven things up a bit! Ah, I guess those days are gone. They were a lot of fun though. They'll be back. I just know it.

It is a fine line that has to be walked when putting a foot down on controversial persons/subjects. I'm not sure what the answer is, but I know that it can't be easy to make these decisions.

Mass banning? First I had heard of that? Sounds kind of impersonal.........
It should be on a more personal level, right Ghobo?:D

most everyone was banned when they made the switch over. besides me, rebel was banned and headborg. they even banned rev, but they let us all back in. i was banned forever it said.:D hey, i could put that on my resume now.

i kind a like the 'new' you belpre. you sound more intelligent. to see if that is really case, only time will tell.;)

Rev.Vassago 10-12-2008 01:08 AM

Rev has been extremely busy these past few days, both with preparing for his convention in Florida, and with spending time carving pumpkins and picking apples with his kidlets. Not to mention he murdered yet another laptop, and had to get a monitor to hook to his laptop so that he actually had a screen. Regularly scheduled annoying posts will resume soon.

Rev is so busy, he's not even here to post himself. He has had to resort to posting in the 3rd person.

People will come back, eventually. Change is always difficult, but it will soon breathe new blood into the forum. With how ban-happy many of the other forums are, as well how non-trucking some others are, this is really the best choice in the end.

But thank you for your concern. It's nice to know that you all love me!:D

Not necessarily, Bel. If I'd had my way, You would've been banned long ago! ;) But, it's nothing personal, Bel! :D:D

As for the "mass banning".... I wouldn't know. It didn't affect me since I was on vacation. :p

Windwalker 10-12-2008 02:19 AM

I was able to read the threads and there were comments about having been banned. I wasn't banned, like last time I was absent (found out it was FLYING J's internet access), I simply could not get in. This week, I'll be off for hours, and maybe even days, because since I don't have an air-card, I may not have access every time I stop. I figure anyone else that seems to go AWOL for a time may be in the same situation.

Having to get a monitor for a laptop is a real bummer. Integrated video cards don't replace will. Must be a DELL. It went on my other laptop too. First it started 'bleeding" red over everything, then went dark about a week later. Really miss that screen... It had "ANTI-GLARE".:( But in order to get the video working again, I have to replace the mother-board. Might as well get a new laptop... It works out to be cheaper. Cure the problem and get an upgrade, all in one. Hardware and software, both.:)
But, then... I'm like everybody here... Trying to figure out how everything works again.

Roadhog 10-12-2008 02:27 AM

I love/hate the Rev, because he's so bent, twisted and disturbed.
Come to think of it...he should be a mod! http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...10/s6vhaha.gif

I'm rather bummed lately. I have no short list. I'm anxious to ban someone, or at least hand out infractions.
I've had to practice on myself...like buying a taser, and wanting to test it out.

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...0/bangedup.jpg

Those infractions really hurt!
I wanted to try the ban button. I figured I'd ban admin Lee since he banned me aboat a week ago..eh.
I got a jolt off my keyboard so bad, my whole left side was numb for 2 days. I tried to tell a few people how I flopped around on the floor like a fish,
but I couldn't pronounce fish...it came out like fifth...so they all just thought I was drunk.

I gotta knock off this testing on myself crap....maybe encourage Bel to act up. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2.../loudlaugh.gif

Practice with the duplicate accounts that some of us created when we couldn't get on the new site. Unless you prefer playing with yourself. :D

Yeah, I got a quote of about $700 to fix it. I only paid $650 for the laptop new. I guess my "once a year" laptops are still holding true. I had such high hopes for this one (a Lenovo business laptop). But I've gone through 3 laptops in 3 years. Time to move on to #4....

Ummmm......yeah. At $3000 (minimum), That's over 4 years worth of laptops for me.;)

Although that is one kick ass laptop.

Malaki86 10-12-2008 10:49 PM

One per year? Wow - and I was wondering if I should replace my HP laptop in the truck because it's coming up on it's 3rd year of bouncing around.

Roadhog 10-13-2008 08:36 AM

I also use HP.
My first laptop was a HP Compaq Presario 2300. It lasted me 4 years, and actually I still have it, and it still works okay, but I doubt I'd get $20 selling it.

I bought this new HP Compaq nx 7300 a couple years ago. It's a business class, which they claim has heavier duty innards. I hope I get a few more years out of this.

Rev must get pissed at "certain forumites" and beat his keyboard, or download a lot of porn...to go though a laptop a year. :D

But then he is on the computer...a lot...lots...lotta... :o

Malaki86 10-13-2008 10:42 AM

I dunno about you, but my system runs from Sunday evening until Friday evening. During that time, I'm doing my routing, playing the XM (through the computer), playing mp3's, doing my logs, the internet, etc.

I paid about $1,400 for mine new. I guess it'd be classified as an entertainment machine. It has a 17" monitor, dual 80gig drives and Windows XP Media Center.

When the time comes, I'll definitely buy another HP laptop. I've also got 4 HP desktop pc's at home. Never had any issues with HP.

I think this laptop would be a nice upgrade: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/sh...me=dv7t_series

Are you running a cool pad? I only have the one laptop to do everything. I hook up to cable modem at home, and on the road, I use my sprint cell phone as a modem, and just run my laptop when I'm parked.

I do wanna get that music stand Rev uses in the truck, as a laptop holder. I haven't done that yet, but right now I'm running steel intrastate, and home everyday, so I leave my laptop at home.

Rev.Vassago 10-13-2008 01:19 PM

I dunno....maybe that music stand is why I go through laptops so quickly, lol.

The first one, a Compaq, the hinges broke, and the screen was starting to go. I yanked the screen off it, and hooked a monitor to it.

The second one, a Toshiba, the screen started getting vertical lines running through it, which meant the screen was starting to go. Then the power supply input on the back of the laptop broke, so I couldn't power it anymore.

The third one (current one), a Lenovo, was an awesome computer, other than the fact that I've already replaced the hard drive in it once. Once again, it is a screen issue that plagues me.

Anyone else seeing a pattern here?

Malaki86 10-13-2008 01:36 PM

I'd say it's the vibration from the stand killing your machines. I have mine mounted to that homemade table in the sleeper. Also, my laptop is closed up while I'm driving. I'm sure that the 7" touchscreen in the front has definitely saved me from needing a screen/hinges. Maybe invest in a actual mount? Also, if you run your laptop open on the road, check into the screen support, which is basically a thick cable. This will keep the screen from moving around as much.

I don't run a cool pad, but I really should. The fan is starting to act goofy on the laptop - noisy at times, mainly.

That's one of the things I loved about this Lenovo. All the fan vents are on the side rather than the bottom, so air flow is never an issue.

Roadhog 10-13-2008 09:24 PM

You know what I really hate? OS failures.

I think that I will go back to IBM when this computer wears out. The hinges on the IBM are metal. My Toshiba has been cracked almost since I purchased it. My niece has one identical to mine and hers is cracked in exactly the same spot.

allan5oh 10-19-2008 01:15 PM

The only laptop out there that will really handle our operation would be a panasonic toughbook, and the better ones not the cheap ones.

Every single laptop I've owned (one compaq and two gateways) a hinge breaks within 8-10 months.

MaL 10-19-2008 01:36 PM

I had a hinge break on my HP after about 2 years in the truck. It cost me a whole $25 for a new set (I installed them myself).
