What's your source, Pack_Rat?
The current info I have for Cally (July 2008) doesn't allow for idling for drivers conforming with HOS no matter where they are parked. There are also separate regs for the City of Sacramento and Placer Cty. All my info shows that the "driver resting" allowance ended Jan 2008. |
CA,
City of Sacramento 5 minutes (prohibits refrigeration unit operation within 100’ of residential or school unless loading/unloading) Fines: Not <$100 nor >$25,000 per violation - Traffic conditions/control - Vehicle safety inspection - Service or repair - Conform to manufacturer’s specifications - Power takeoffs involving cargo or work functions - Prevent safety or health emergency - Hours of service compliance at truck/rest stop - To recharge hybrid electric vehicles - Resting in sleeper berth beyond 100’ of residential units (exemption ended Jan. 1, 2008) CA, Placer County 5 minutes (prohibits refrigeration unit operation within 100’ of residential or school unless loading/unloading) Fines: $50 Minimum - Traffic conditions/control - Vehicle safety inspection - Service or repair - Conform to manufacturer’s specifications - Power takeoffs involving cargo to work functions - Prevent safety or health emergency - Hours of service compliance at truck/rest stops - To recharge hybrid electric vehicles - Operate intermittent equipment - Alternative fueled vehicles - Attainment areas - Resting in sleeper berth beyond 100’ of residential units (exemption ended Jan. 1, 2008) What does that mean? (The highlighted ones?) Does it mean that if you are on a REQUIRED break you can idle? |
It should mean that in the city of Sacramento and in Placer County only (no guarantees- they change this stuff all the time- lol).
The rest of Cally, from what I can find, is currently a no-idle zone. No matter what you're trying to do. And if APS is the same as APU, which I think it is, then you aren't even allowed to use an APU to heat or cool your truck unless it's pretty much brand new and/or meets their emissions requirements for those items. Sheesh. Totally confusing laws. APS: Quote:
