Google Chrome web browser

Anyone else trying the new browser by Google?

http://gears.google.com/chrome/?hl=en

Certainly loads web pages a lot faster than IE.

I just downloaded it to give it a try.

Been using it since I got home today, seems alot faster. I don't like the lack of an add blocker like firefox, but why would google let you block google adds?

I'll play with it for a few days and see.

Have you noticed that you can't back space through text when your posting and that spell check works? Sometimes when I hit the space bar the text does some strange stuff and then will appear as typed. I am going to send in the bug report on it. Back spacing does some weird stuff to the text now and then as well. All in all, I really like it for surfing, watching utube and other things. It doesn't hang up like IE.
It does have the pop up blocker and I actually like to see some of the ads.

Wow, this Crash Control is cool.
You can check how many resources each web page is using, by right clicking the top of the window and select task manager.
Memory use and plug-ins appear seperately, and you can close tabs that are misbehaving by clicking end process from inside

I should have warned you about the self destruct feature. Sorry.

This chrome is right up your alley.

I don't really care to much for it. Runs ok and easy to use but I like my Firefox ad-on's.

I haven't tried the Chrome but when I had the Google toolbar it really slowed down my computer. Ever since I uninstalled it I am running faster. If you down load the Google Web Browser do you have to accept the toolbar? Anyone.

I would like to know the answer to that query, too. Those Google add-ons like that stupid toolbar are one reason I haven't tried it yet. Plus I'm scared of new stuff.

Mine as well, So I trashed the toolbar and was hesitant to try the chrome. But so far, so good. I might try firefox as suggested in order to compare the two.

yes trukrswyfe you have to accept a version of the toolbar, once setup starts there's no minimal installation option available.

here's a dandy article detailing some already reported bugs.

It is way too buggy for me right now, It is great for random surfing but it just does not seem to work on CAD and a couple other sites real clean. It does load script really fast and that is nice.

Always read the fine print. Specifically the 11.1 clause:

http://gizmodo.com/5045050/google-up...be-less-creepy They are changing it as I type this....bad news is they own 2 of my posts from yesterday. I suppose they will shoehorn adds in them now.

tinytim 09-05-2008 08:25 PM

too early

So far numerous vulnerabilities have been found. I wouldn't suggest using this for a while, let others be the guinea pigs.

Well, I got rid of chrome tonight and went to Firefox. Those ad ons are nice.
Loads quick, and the possibilities are endless. RIP Chrome
