Cooking with the Rev
Since there has been so much discussion today about steak and eggs, I thought I'd start a cooking show, right here on CAD.
Today, we are making Steak and Eggs. Since Steak and Eggs is kind of boring, I thought I'd change it to Steak and Trucker's Omelet. That sounds more fun. Step one: Fire up the generator. Gotta have power if you want to make awesomeness. http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook1.jpg Make sure you fire up the battery charger too. 10.3 volts of awesomeness. http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook2.jpg Okay, now that we have power, let's preheat our George Foreman Grill (or suitable facsimile). Once it is preheated to the manufacturers specifications, throw that hunk of meat on it, but make sure the grill is SHUT OFF! Don't want to overcook our steak now! Just let it cook shut off while we make the awesome Trucker's Omelet. http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook3.jpg Step one for an awesome Trucker's Omelet is to start with fresh vegetables. I like to use tomatoes, green peppers, and onions, mainly because I like tomatoes, green peppers, and onions. You can't have too many, so start cutting! Careful not to cut your fingers off, because they don't taste right in a Trucker's Omelet! http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook4.jpg Once you have all your veggies cut, it's time to preheat and butter the frying pan. Don't use too much butter, because it's not good for you - who am I kidding - THROW AS MUCH BUTTER ON AS POSSIBLE! http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook5.jpg BAM! http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook6.jpg |
While that melts, sit back and marvel at your awesomeness for being able to create a masterpiece in your truck.
Once that butter has melted (which, if you used the right amount, should take a while), throw those veggies in and let them start simmering. http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook7.jpg While the veggies cook, let's work on the eggs. I like to use two extra large eggs in my omelet. Add a bit of milk to the mixture (I prefer skim - watching my figure after all). http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook8.jpg Whisk the eggs into a frenzy, and then carefully dump them on top of the veggies. If the eggs cover the entire pan, you win. If not, quickly add a little more milk to the mixture and stir. http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook9.jpg Let that bitch simmer - it's going to take a while to cook. http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook10.jpg You might want to take this opportunity to marvel at your cooking setup, and laugh at all the other guys in the truckstop who are eating cheese and crackers - the chumps. http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook11.jpg |
Okay, back to cooking. Now we don't want the omelet to stick to the pan, so every once in a while give it a nice gentle turn, to keep it from sticking. It is also a good way to get the runny egg stuff on the top to go to the sides where it can cook better.
http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook12.jpg Looks like the omelet is almost done, but there is something missing, isn't there? http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook13.jpg CHEESE! BAM! http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook14.jpg Shut the burner off and let the cheese melt. While it is turning into cheesy goodness, throw your toast in. Don't burn it, dammit! http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook15.jpg |
Now all that is left is plate assembly! I find that throwing it all on the plate wherever makes for a wonderful presentation. A dollop of sour cream on the omelet makes for extra fun. A Dr. Pepper, vintage 2008, makes for a great addition to the wonderful meal you just created.
http://www.overdesaturated.com/cook16.jpg So there you have it! Total time to make = about 15 minutes. Total cost of ingredients = less than 5 bucks. Total awesomeness = 1,000,000,000. Extra credit - take your assembled meal outside your truck to eat it, and watch the chumps in the other trucks get jealous. Extra points if they come over and ask you how you created such awesomeness. Tell them to enjoy their cheese and crackers. |
Splendid, Rev...
