When I worked for WH Trans out of Wausau, WI, over a three year period, the distance from Wausau to Kenosha changed each year for three years and by the end, it was a 45 mile shorter trip, even though no new roads were made along the way. I often wondered about that.
I would not mind having, not only HHG, but Rand McNally and PC Miller eliminated from the paycheck. You find a road closed because the bridge is out, and you don't get paid for the extra miles you have to run. Or the companies that do not authorize running toll roads, but pay you as if you did. If it ends up affecting all of them, it would not hurt my feelings. |
Drivers and owner operators who lease to carriers who pay HHG miles lose a lot of money. The closest to actual miles would probably be practical, but even those are going to be off a little. It would be nice if carriers could bill for hub miles. I have to be careful when I am doing over-sized loads due to possible rerouting during construction on roads. I can really short myself.
