The gun went off accidently and just happened to shoot the driver?

Karma's a bitch!

This driver was certainly not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Quote:

The driver attempted to flee. As he got in his truck, the deputy tried to stop him. The deputy somehow got caught, and the driver took off - dragging the officer at least 20 feet.
First off, you do not get into a altercation with an officer, I don't care what municipality the officer represents. Second, to attempt to flee in a truck? Even if the officer is on foot, you can not outrun Motorola.

Gun went off accidently? I don't think so. What's more, if the officer was being dragged, the potential charges against the driver (if he had lived) would be Interfering with an officer, (possibly) assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, fleeing an officer and finally, attempted vehicular homicide. Maybe even "Conduct without regard for life". I doubt very much that the officer will be facing any disaplinary action as a result. He'll get patched up and be back on duty in a couple of days. Maybe even have a few more "ATTA BOY's" under his belt as well. My guess would be that the officer intended to shoot the driver, even if he did not intend to kill him.
