Trucking Industry & their so called "experts"

Is it just me....maybe my "BS" meter is getting too sensitive....

It seems to me that the majority of those so called trucking industry experts one hears quoted all over the place & on many trucking radio shows after listening to them for about 10 seconds, anyone with any experience at all realizes that they have ZERO experience behind the wheel?

I have listened to these guys talk about fuel economy for example, & how you can just cruise down a hill at top speed to save fuel...not hold your truck back, not use the jakes, etc basically use "Mexican Overdrive"... I almost fell out of my chair when I heard that one...good lord anyone who runs in any type of hills or mountains KNOWS how insane that would be.

What I'd like to know is how do these programs find these guys? Do they check their credentials?

What really concerns me about this is all the newbies that listen to these shows & take this crap as gospel.

I just don't get it. Can somebody explain this?

Like why don't they have someone like GMAN, who REALLY knows what he's talking about, instead of some dope who just THINKS he does?

The criteria for getting your own trucking radio program in four simple steps:

1. Be interesting enough to keep people listening.
2. Be controversial, but not TOO controversial.
3. Fake like you have some clue about what you are talking about. If you don't know what you are talking about, have "industry experts" on your program, and just agree with everything they say, even if the experts contradict each other.
4. Take a ride in a big truck once. Claim this gives you credibility.

Because GMAN is boring. It's true. I, however, know everything, and am very interesting. When do I start? :D

P.S. I promise to have both GMAN and Steve Booth on my program at least once a month, and I will disagree with everything they say.
