Why else would you make it a point to publicly address this situation and write them a letter explaining that you will no longer be using their services until they remove the item off of the shelf? It sure seems like a lot of grandstanding for someone who doesn't want a change. Since you are explaining what is defined as a personal boycott I would assume that you would be hoping to put the screws to them enough to get them to give into your demands or have them shut down. Maybe you just like grandstanding and talking tough, who knows.

Your overuse of the word clueless though is proving that you have yet to have a legitimate argument here. Maybe it makes you feel like you have won some mindless victory but third grade degradation has never been a measuring stick for me when deciding if someone has a valid complaint. But we are living in your world were only criminals buy slim jims and a slim jim is the only way anyone would break into a truck so I guess the first one to use the word clueless wins. If we could just get rid of slim jims and siphon pumps the the Pilots would be a safe place for a trucker to live, LOL.

Wanting them to remove an item from their shelf and trying to get them shut down entirely are two completely different things. Apparently you are having difficulty distinguishing between the two.

It has nothing to do with my argument, and everything to do with yours.

That's your contention, not mine.

Safe? Who knows. Safer? Maybe. More difficult for thieves to accomplish the same task? Probably. There is no reason to make it easier for a thief, which is exactly what these products do.

So, let's go back to your original post and see how "clueless" you are.

See you are expecting a reaction from Pilot. Now of course you are wanting them to remove the item but you really have no control over what kind of harm your lack of patronizing will do, LOL. It could cause them to go bankrupt you big spender you.

Now you want me and anyone else to join in your campaign. Of course when I explain that I feel the reason you have listed is kind of weak you start in with name calling, classic are you going to use that tactic on Pilot when they ignore your pointless letter?

I sure hope you use your real name and address when you contact those publications so everyone can let you know how brilliant you are, LOL.

Wow, from this statement I gather that you assume that the executives of Pilot have grown tired of making money and now have set out to cause harm to unsuspecting truckers (notice the highlight above). Unfortunately I have a very hard time buying into your sky is falling mentality. I highly doubt that trucker safety rates higher than making money but I also fail to believe that making things worse for drivers is a top priority either. Now this is just my guess but I assume that the Pilot execs didn't get rich making things unsafe for drivers but I would venture to say they probably made it selling things such as slim jims (which I have seen at T/A, and other truck stops along with bolt cutters, hammers, wrenches and by the way they sell fuel pumps, fuel line and wire at the T/A shop so I guess they really promote fuel theft since those items would make it relatively easy for a guy to steal fuel. See all I had to do is get as mentally creative as you and I can see boycotting the T/A shop makes sense, LOL. Not really, but I tried.

That isn't what I assume at all. What I assume, and also hope, is that the executives who run Pilot have no idea what products are offered on their own store shelves. I also hope that if enough people were to complain to those same executives, they may get the hint that this isn't a product that is needed or wanted on their shelves by the people who patronize their stores.

The only reason I can see that you would justify having this crap on a truck stop store shelf is because you either:

1. Want to use said product for legal or illegal means, or
2. Are too damn cheap to pay someone to unlock your door in the event of a lockout.

How many do you need? I've got about 20 extras....I'd gladly part with one to help you out. My laundry people hang my shirts on wire hangers and I keep them to insert in the placard holders to keep the placards in, especially in rainy weather....so I always have spares... :D 8) 8)

I think slim change has a very slim chance of winning this argument.

This would be a really good time to come up with a little comic strip humor related to this thread.

I see you fail to read posts but what can you expect from this crowd. I am no where close to a pilot cashier in fact if you could possible read between the lines you would see in one of my earlier post

I take a quick shot at pilot too but you are too worried about bashing someone. I am just wondering though, why you feel such a need to dive right in to defend Rev.? You two aren't heading for California anytime soon are you?

It's funny that you are a new member with ALL your posts that are argumentative in one topic , and with one poster..... Who's the stalker ????

slim chance 06-18-2008 01:18 AM

Stalker? Who said anything about a stalker? I attempted to debate this supposed topic about Pilot selling questionable goods, you and Rev. changed it to I guess name calling and now you make an off the wall comment about stalking. I should have known better, truckers, technology, and a forum board, gee, how bad could that get, LOL.

Rev.Vassago 06-18-2008 02:10 AM

I wasn't aware I was doing any name calling...... :?

I got a phone call this morning from John Freeman, representative to Pilot Travel Centers. He informed me that he also saw the slim jim kit in a Pilot truck stop, and his feelings about it mirrored mine. He stated that he has received several phone calls from trucking company owners (not just O/O's), complaining about this very thing. He said that he has seen about 100 emails pass through his desk in the past few days with my email to them attached to it, and they have gotten the message load and clear. The result is that these items are going to be phased out of all Pilot Travel Centers.

So there.

Twilight Flyer 06-18-2008 02:27 AM

So there, poopy head.
Fixed.

Sorry, couldn't resist. :D

So there.

Phased out? If they were so dangerous in his eyes why didn't you corner him about removing them immediately? I wonder how many truckloads of those things they have in their warehouse in storage since they are not perishable items. Might be long past your lifetime before the phase out happens but you got a phone call from a guy pandering you so the world must be right. Surely a "Pilot" representative wouldn't lead the infamous Rev.Vassago on. LOL

Again.... one more post towards another member.....

What is your " fixation ".........

slim chance 06-18-2008 07:07 AM

No BD it is called a debate, discussion, or even a disagreement, see he says because he got a phone call it is all fixed, I say yeah I will believe it when I see it. I don't really expect you to get it though I mean you brought up stalking a few post back so I guess the paranoia is still run strong with you. Good luck with that stalking thing though.

I was unaware that for the first X amount of post I had to agree with you and Rev.Vassago. Sounds like a pretty boring group of members, as you call them, if they all have to act and think like you.

Spelling is too good for it to be WD. Mult status likely, however.

Geez...some people are entirely too high-strung. You might want to re-adjust your tinfoil hat. It was a joke, based off of Rev's latest comic strip that he did.

Wow, a lot of over sensitive people around here. I point out a similarity between slim jims and bolt cutters and look at all the paranoia. World out to get me? I never have made such statements (on the other hand some of you are making some rather over the top conclusions, stalking, going after members, wow such the imaginations) but I do find this activity rather amusing and a good way to pass an afternoon while seeing how "high strung" everyone else gets.

So it is not fixed and the saga continues? Cool this post thread could hit 100 pages before it is all done with.

Not for sure who or what you are trying to compare me to here, I only need one account to stir you up. I assume that someone else has already come in once before and disagreed with you. Obviously a sore spot for you.

Sorry sweetheart..... But you are not bright enough to stir anyone up here..

But keep trying, as I enjoy the game.....

The lack of questioning on the term "mult" confirms the mult status.

Mults are not very bright to begin with...... Since all of slimchance's posts are in this topic it is easy to figure this out. Now if slimchance were to mount an effective campaign in arguing with a certain member, he/she should have been smart enough to post in other catagories and other subjects....

Just sayin.............................

Orangetxguy 06-18-2008 12:03 PM

Who the heck is "WD"?? Is it anything like the "CW" ???

You know...the "New---Old" tv channel????

That's correct...where I live if you lock yourself out of your car and call the cops when they show they will give you the standard line "there's nothin' we can do" and will direct you to find and pay for a locksmith.

Sorry Einstien, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the use of "mult" would be short for multiple accounts. This isn't the first forum board I have been on.

See and this is the brilliance of it all, I set out to show an objective point of view to what Rev.Vassago stated. I didn't care if it was him, or anyone else who posted that, I pointed out how shallow I thought that stance was now the intellectual giants who have been posting their wisdom lately have made this a keystone cops moment by trying to figure out who I am. I didn't come on here to go after anyone, I just don't see things the same way a few of you do. You seem to be certain I am someone you have had problems with before, classic. Again, I only need one account to get you wound, proof is in this thread but good luck with the super sleuth stuff. Maybe you might want to call Barney in on this one. LOL You paranoid guys really crack me up, keep it up. LOL Reality is so overrated. LOL

Useless 06-18-2008 02:31 PM

One of the drawbacks of the company that I drove for was that our fuel network was limited to Pilot, a few Luv's and a few other truck stops.

I have no need for a new reason to hate Pilot; I have plenty of them as it is!!

BanditsCousin 06-18-2008 03:44 PM

So what are the reasons to hate Pilot other than this? I bought my kit (identical) at Love's, which I think are the same. Diesel, a fast food chain, and a rewards card. No lounge, and overpriced stuff 8)

And for the record (in my dealings) the police will NOT open your car if you lock your keys in. The carry slim jims for babies and dogs in cars with the windows up on 100 degree days. Its a liability for them to mess up a car door. I've been told this a time or two
