driving records

does anybody know how i go about getting old tickets off of my massachusetts driving record?? i'm talking about stuff that is over 10 years old. the registry told me i would have to give up my c.d.l. and they would erase everything. there has to be another way. that sounds like descrimination to me. i talked to an interstate trucker lawyer but he couldn't help me because the tickets are so old.. 8)

Don't know about your state, but in Texas some tickets will stay on your record depending on what they are. For instance, driving with no insurance will stay on for some time.

Don't know about Mass, but here in Illinois the only way to get something removed from your MVR is by court order.

Some things really suck with this state.

Most carriers and insurance companies don't check or count anything past 3 years old.

What you say is true, but virtually every company I've worked for checked my MVR. When they look at it, anything that is on the record can be seen. If something on the record is embarrassing, they still get a look at it.

My point exactly

Even worse you have some sort of mishap and the local news has a slow day, they will dig deep into your past and poof everything you did will be on the 6pm newscast with teaser commercials throughout the day leading up to the newscast..

They would have a field day with me...

Wow... you resurrected your OWN thread from 3 and 1/2 years ago! Something you still want to get off your chest?

Is this "ancient misjudgement of youth" still haunting your job prospects? Have you thought about moving to a SANE state?

There is a BIG difference (in most states) between a court "criminal record" and an MVR. The courthouse still maintains ALL my "mistakes" before I got into trucking... all the way back to when they "compurized" in '84. But, if a company asks for... and pulls.... a 3 or 5 or even a 10 year MVR.... I come up CLEAN.

If FedEX will "insure" me based on a 3 yr. MVR.... there are other companies that don't CARE about mistakes before that time.

Do I have a point? I don't know... my first company gave me a chance because they only HAD to consider the last 3 years. (or was it 7?) Mostly insurance reasons. When they folded, I applied to a local company who's policy was NONE... NEVER. Wish they'd mentioned that in the AD!

But, here I am with FedEX making almost twice the money, and all that "stuff" is still on some record somewhere.

I never got to SEE the pic that got you banned, T-Wolf. But, it must have been a doozie! Sounds like you have something ELSE to get off your chest, too!

Sounds like someone already HAD a "field day" with you. Maybe I'm wrong.
