WV Trucker Protest
 

The Hill Billy Express was covered on the local news last night and from the sound of it I am not sure if it did any good. The great governor Manchin was out of state when the convoy arrived in Charleston at the capital. Several truckers were interviewed and were very angry at the high fuel prices. Some had "For Sale" signs on their rigs because they just can't afford to keep running. I think to be more effective the truckers need to united and drive to Washington DC. The high fuel prices are a national problem! The polititions in Washington DC are really the reason why we can not drill in ANWAR or in the Gulf of Mexico. The other issue is that there have been no new oil refineries built in 30 years.
The one thing that needs to be done is pick up a phone or shoot and e-mail to the polititions in your state and in Washington DC and tell them how fed up you are with paying the high prices for fuel. I have a feeling that this whole situation is just going to get worse in the coming weeks.

KDX, yes the govt has failed on getting us off the dependence of world oil by using our own resources but they also haven't forced oil companies to actively seek alternatives to oil. They aren't going to do it on their own, they know that it would be their own death sentence and therefore won't seek alternatives voluntarily.

The other problem is, China, they are hording the world's supply of oil and upping their demand for more oil daily. Until OPEC or the rest of the world stops them from what they are doing, the prices will continue to go up per barrel. China wants to take us down, China wants to be the world's only Superpower and they figure the best way is to starve us and everyone else out by hording the oil supply. They are trying to get Chavez on board to sell all of his countries oil exclusively to them and the same with Russia and the Siberian fields. They also have their hands all in the Mid-East trying to get individual countries to sell exclusively to them and not thru OPEC. The only fault to their plan is that the US buys a lot of goods from China, if we can't get to the stores to buy those goods because the price of gas is so high, it doesn't help their cause at all.

The other side of China's plan is, they are also funneling illegals here non-stop on cargo ships. Per the INS, illegal Chinese trying to get into the US are more than those coming from Central America. The only difference, we can easily stop the one's from China when the ship docks in the port. The problem is, costs more to the US citizens to be shipping these people back because it's a further distance that we are having to deport them.
