But about 10 years ago, I was contacted by a "girl" in west Africa about getting a trunk sent to my address, then send her a ticket to the States, but one of my boys gave me a site to go to and check it out. It turned out to be a scam that milked nearly 4 million out of a guy in the Phillipines. I couldn't remember the site, so I was hoping WOT could tell me if it was on the level. Well, I found out that it's not. Something else to be wary about... One of my daughter's friends was looking for a loan with as low an interest rate as she could get. She found one up in Canada that looked to be on the level. Send $300 to have the application processed, and never heard from them again. So, what I just got is already in the hands of INTERPOL, just like the last thing I got. The "girl" in West Africa turned out to be a guy sipping margaritas on the beach of the Bahamas, and the photos they sent of her were from a modeling agency in Paris. WE'll let interpol go after them again. |
Snopes.com is good for all of your scam/urban legend checking needs.

That's crazy, Windwalker. It's amazing how keen these nuts can be, yet, folks fall for those scams. They do sound like a real deal, until you find out that you'd been had.
Back when I had AOL, I used to get all kinds of weird emails. Like I do today, if I got an email from someone I didnt know, I just deleted the email. |
If it sounds to good to be ture. Run or really double check it. I never go for that stuff. No such thing as free money.
