Heath Ledger found dead

Didn't know where to put this.

NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence in a possible drug-related death, police said. He was 28. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went to let Ledger know the masseuse was there found him dead at 3:26 p.m.

The Australian-born actor was an Oscar nominee for his role in "Brokeback Mountain" and has numerous other screen credits.

Moved to the Anything and Everything forum.

I wonder what happens to the new Batman movie then? He was supposed to be the Joker and I do not believe live-action filming was anywhere near complete. Trailers are already playing, too, and the movie isn't due out until summer.

the article said "Ledger had finished filming his role as the Joker this year in "The Dark Knight," a sequel to 2005's "Batman Begins." i thought he was great in "A Knight's Tale" he will be missed

Yeah, I've been hearing the whole thing's in post-production now.

If he's good in this, I'm sure it'll garner comparisons to Brandon Lee and The Crow.

RIP Heath.
Sad when someone is so young, and otherwise very healthy.
Claims are this was accidental. I'm not surprised, if that were the case.
So many drugs on the market, and when you look at the side effects, they
are often more alarming then the problem you are hoping to alleviate.

I really never was a fan. I only liked "A Knight's Tale."
It had rock music, a cool prize hottie, and a side-kick named Wot.

If this happened anywhere near the filming of "Brokeback Mountain."
I would have believed suicide, by brillo. .... Wot? too soon? :?

You know, it kind of gives me mixed feelings in a way. I'm glad he's completed filming for the Batman flick, because it looks to be far and away, the best of the whole bunch.

But then I think, am I that shallow that I'm glad his part was completed so I can be entertained for 2 hours? Is that all his life is worth?

I'm conflicted. :?

But I'm still going to see the movie. Reports are that his performance as the Joker is flat-out phenominal.

However, on a more serious note, I listened to a few stories last night about his death and another this morning. Reports are conflicted, too. Some say it was accidental, others are saying it was a suicide. Others are stating he had a well-hidden drug problem. There was even one that said his death might have been caused by his taking Ambien, the sleep aid. I guess when he was doing the Joker role in the movie, it was a pretty grueling role and he was only getting a couple hours of sleep a night. One Ambien did nothing for him...2 got him about an hour. This is some really, really potent stuff, too, so there's a good chance that might have contributed to it, too.

In the end, the important or sad thing is that someone died long before their time should have been up. And that's a shame.

Wasn't he also one of the cowboys in Brokeback (or was it Bareback?) Mountain?

He was also in "The Patriot", with Mel Gibson. And I like him in "A Knight's Tale."

I heard about it on the radio....sad to end your life at 28.

Jackrabbit379 01-23-2008 07:18 AM

I guess I dont know who Heath Ledger was, but it sounds like a sad deal.

I never saw Brokeback Mountain, and I aint planning on seeing it. I cannot believe that Larry McMurtry wrote that book. He must have been either held at gun-point, or he was doped up. :? :P Allthough, he is a different bird.

Kinda hard to tell what exactly happened. Might have overdosed, or may have been done by someone else.. Sad thing, though.
