I'm not trying to tell you what you SHOULD have done, Mommee. But, I'm not buying what you say you COULDN'T have done. Just won't wash with me. You DID what you did, and you don't have to answer to ME for it! As I said, I've done the same thing with LESS rationale than you had.

Chances are, the girl had NO problem, and just wanted to have a smoke before Mass! Maybe, she was just waiting for a RIDE to come get her, and was perplexed that it hadn't arrived yet. I'm sure it is nothing that you should worry yourself over! But, you'll never KNOW..... will you?

Remember.... YOU brought it up! It was YOUR "Christmas thought." Perhaps, one that was evoked by Wot's picture. It pleases me to know that there are others who have "similar" Christmas thoughts as mine. But, I never intended to impose MY convictions on you. I only wanted you to KNOW how I thought about YOUR story..... and to LEARN about YOUR thoughts.

That's what I "do." Well..... THAT and drive a truck!

Maybe I was wrong for not approaching her and maybe I was selfish for thinking of my children first. Let's get this straight, my kids will come first before anything. God gave them to me to care for first and foremost, not you(in general). If some think me a selfish person for being this way, so be it.

God didn't give me big hips. Remember I am 98lbs. My son is about 30lbs. It's not as easy as you think to carry him around. Please don't take offense at this, you can't even go to the ATM and leave the kids in the car anymore in today's world. It only takes a second for them to disappear.

You have your opinion and I have mine. See...it isn't even year's end and I'm already arguing with you  Yeah I did put it out there didn't I.

I don't think you were selfish at all, Mommee! Just being a good mother, I guess.

The big hips thing was just a "humorous generalization." And, actually.... I don't "remember" you ever telling me you were so petite! Good thing you got that 30 lb "anchor" to hold onto! These winter winds might blow you away!

Perhaps, I drew you into the "discussion" to punish you for warning Kahlana about me!

Like I said..... I'VE passed by one such as this many times, for reasons NOT so noble as child protection. I've had the same feelings afterwards, wondering IF they might really be in need. There are so MANY in need these days, we can't possibly help them ALL!

But, I really can't understand why God didn't make me a millionaire! I really WOULD give most of it away. What would I do with a yacht?? I don't even like to fish!!

  I was warned?????? when did that happen??? i bet it happened when i went for that 3rd cup of coffee didnt it?

Jackrabbit379 12-24-2007 03:40 AM

Ya know, yall talking about homeless, they say that about 15 some-odd percent of homeless are veterans.
You would think that the government would try to help the fellers out.

Trukrswyfe 12-24-2007 03:44 AM

I 100% agree with Rabbit, the Government needs to give these men and women all that they need to get their lives back, after them giving us their lives in service.

golfhobo 12-24-2007 03:51 AM

Yeah, Rabbit! I JUST saw a segment on CNN about a Korean War vet who used to be homeless and has come out of it. They mentioned all the OTHER Veterans who are homeless. I know how it happens..... but I just can't understand it!

And of course, the first thought that came to my mind was someone saying..... " I just can't feel sorry for the homeless."

This is assuming that they had lives before they went into the service to begin with. Just because someone serves limited time in the military does not mean that they need to or get to be taken care of for the rest of their lives. I'm all for helping people who need the help, but to complain that this was the military that caused them to be homeless is just plain wrong. The VAST majority of military people get on with their lives after they serve. There are some who love to point out that some homeless man was in the military.. it means NOTHING.
