No, they dont make them like they used to.
These plastic cars today can drive forever on a tank of fuel, but nothin like, per say...a Chevelle Super Sport. 8)

Husband lost his Chevelle Malibu I think 68 could be wrong, but it was decked out glass packs and super shifter ( can't remember the name of the carb.)

God that thing was Hotttttttttt, would pick me up and take me to school and always got pulled over. He had a really bad driving record back then due to this car. Plus side it was real roomy :wink:

What kind of mileage can you get towing an open single-car trailer behind a 2002 Chevy Suburban (RWD, 5.3L, Auto, 3:73 gears)? 14.6mpg!

On Christmas Day I used the 'Burban to tow my '05 Civic up to the folks' house in McKinney, TX from Houston, TX. It was on a U-haul car trailer (full trailer, not just the dolly- only $14 more). The curb weight of the trailer is around 2,200lb according to U-haul and I guess the Civic weighs 2,500 or so. I set the cruise at 66 and left the tranny in overdrive as it didn't hunt for gears and only downshifted on longer hills.

I topped it off before and after and I was shocked after 292 miles to only put in 19.998 gallons. Not bad at all. I will probably get around 19, maybe 20 on the way back depending on what speed I set the cruise at.

As an aside, the U-Haul people tried to give me towing instruction. I told them I thought I could handle it ;). They also told me to hang on a second while they finished up another customer and they would help me get it hooked up. Shoulda seen the look on their faces about 3 minutes later when I came back in the door with the one amber and the one red marker light that were out on the trailer after I hooked it up and pre-tripped it. I also told them one tire was about 10psi low, but I'd take care of it at the gas station... They said not many people pre-trip.

Even though little short trailers are harder to handle (they sure react faster than 53' vans!), I impressed myself 90* backing it up the driveway when I go to my destination. I haven't pulled a trailer with a light truck since I got my CDL. Sure is easier now.
