Letter from Homeland Security

I got a letter from DHS today making me aware that 2 laptop computers where stolen and I was one of the many people that had personal info on it. It was the info from when I applied for Hazmat.

They say it's encrypted and not likely to be misused. How nice. Some of you may be getting the same letter.

The government has been losing a lot of laptops lately. First the Army, now Homeland Security.

Yeah, just like the one that jackass that worked for the VA that took a laptop home with the personal information of a couple of million Veterans on it, that "supposedly" got stolen from his house. Can't say I remember them ever saying they recovered it.....

They need to put tracking devices in those government laptops.........that explode by cue. Well, maybe not explode, by meltdown somehow.

Don't forget the several HARD DRIVES that were removed from Desktop computers at the Los Alamos NUCLEAR facility, and later found in someones home in the community!

Although, I have had an Extensive Background Investigation for a government T.S clearance, I doubt that I will EVER apply for a hazmat endorsement, nor do I EVER apply for or pay for anything "online."

Some of us were around when computers were in their infancy. Many of us perceived that they would someday be a big problem.

This is ONE time that I wish I had been WRONG!

you'd think that kind of info would NEVER leave some kind of secured room or like that it would be stored on a server and only READABLE from within. i really see no reason for that ind of info to be portable. especially from some ass who probably just took it home to surf the net from his bed.

Kinda makes ya wonder...

Surely, there are ways of tracking these laptops. It all sounds crazy. As if, (not saying who) but guys wanting inside info for war tactics.

It's Bush's fault.
