Big Rig Crash Kills 1, Jams Freeway - This is a Swift truck.

This just broke on the news in San Diego - National City to be specific. The fatality was the person in the sleeper berth of the truck...in the photos you can clearly see Swift on the back of the trailer.

Police are saying the truck was travelling over 70 mph - we're 55 mph for trucks. Pray for the family of whomever was in that sleeper berth. I'm hoping this was not a trainer/trainee...

WOW!!! That truck is demolished! Looks like one of the all blue Swift lease operator trucks. Sounds like from the witnesses he was going to fast in the rain. Too bad.

This is really sad. From what I understand bout Swifts speed restrictions almost would of had to be a lease op.

That's just sad. Our prayers go out to the family of the victim.

I don't know if this was a trainee/trainer situation. But if it was another reason why Swift should change there training program. I would never train here for this reason. Sad story

Swift O/O are required to set the governors on their trucks to 68 mph as part of the contract. If they are driver/trainers, that speed has to be limited to 65.

Unless that O/O was in violation of his contract with swift, he wasn't going over 70 mph.

Why is this topic being moved moved? It might be hard to look at but wrecks like this should be in the "New Drivers" section.

I am a new driver (9 mths) and I do believe storys like this can benefit and help new drivers.

He could if he was going downhill.

True but since there's no hills near the accident scene, that possibility doesn't exist.
