So.... since I haven;t spent much time at all in a Truck Stop, especially at night..... are the stories/rumors true??? "Bring Yer Tokens"??? It may seem like a dumb question, but I always hear drivers talkin stories and so forth.... but that was just ease dropping, haha! So, true?? false?? Post YOUR stories..... 8)

Oh, their there. I the 8 months I was OTR I think I had maybe 2 approach me while in my truck. As a rule of thumb: the larger ther city the more you will see. All it takes is a polite "no thank you" and they will go away without you having to worry about your truck or trailer.

In 5-6 years of OTR I have only had 3 ever come knocking on my door. Funny thing is that each of the 3 times I was no where near a large city.

Most of the time if you just say No thanks they will scoot on off to the next truck. They generally do not want to cause trouble because if they do it is all the more likely someone will call the cops.

I heard of a lot lizard sting in Fort Wayne,In that ended up with something like 12 lizards being busted over a few days and 8-9 of them had AIDS.

You would be better off bringing a laptop and a can of vaseline :roll: with you while you are on the road. It will save you money and perhaps your life.

Just spray 'em with hornet spray. They'll rob you just as fast as they would "F" you.

Over time you learn which truck stops to avoid. For instance the Pilot in Dallas Texas.or actually any of the truck stops in that area. Alot of times if you park on the back row,that seems to attract them also. They are like the animals in the zoo,you leave them alone,they leave you alone.And by all means don't feed them.

I just say no thanks and they leave me alone. Piss em off and they may send other lizards over just to get under your skin.

I feel they are just out making a living. I just don't want the services.

Spreading STD's to feed their dope habit, is not what I call "making a living"

Truckers themselves should be ashamed for even using their services.

Not so sure I think it should be legal? But if they did regulate it they could try to contain STD's and make some money on licensing and taxing their income, but that will never happen.

Trucking is a lot like prostitution. Sometimes you gotta put it into some nasty holes. :lol:

There is an untapped resource of tax money that the govt. is too stupid take advantage of.

Have these whores tested for STD's and HIV and tax their services.

Personally, I know where my hand has been and I'm not into leftovers or sloppy seconds.

Places where legalized prostitution is available none of the problems that prostitution is blamed for occurs. Something to consider.

It's been along time since I've driven, I was team and my partner owned the truck. He was real religious and we had a cross on the grill and it would light up when we ran at night. I guess when the whore's saw the cross, they left us alone. Never had any problems.

We only had one come knocking once and when I opened the curtain and said "WHAT????" she looked at me and said.... in a meek voice.... "Sorry, wrong truck" I said "YOU'RE D$MN RIGHT". and that was it. I saw her lop off the another truck... poor soul.

Well, once I said; No thanks, my wife is with me. And she was.THAT was a big mistake. In the dog house for a month. :cry:

I think I've had more trouble in the pickle parks than the truck stops.

Now thats funny.

don't get into a fight with the lot lizards or you will wake up in the morning with your truck damaged :P

They're only spreading std's to the people stupid enough to screw them. I think of it as punishment...

To answer the OP, though.

I've been driving for 12 years. We used to have the occasional knock on the truck- maybe 3 or 4 times in the first couple of years we were driving. Of course, it was always my job to go say no. We had more problems with the guy from the freakin' grocer receiver knocking on the truck, to be perfectly honest.

I can't remember the last time I had a knock. I think mainly, these days they walk around and wait for you to contact them- flashing lights, honking, waving whatever.

You wanna see what it's really like? Go to the Ontario (California) TA west and wait till about sundown. Or sunup for that matter- those girls work hard.

What I hate is when you nasty souls are flashing your lights, honking or waving at me. DO I LOOK LIKE A FREAKING HOOKER? NO! I hate being at truck stops- I have to put on my truck stop attitude- eyes forward, walk straight, jeans and a sweatshirt if at all possible- doesn't work so well in July. If I'm not looking around for business, leave me alone!

And don't tell me it's a compliment. It's not. You want to compliment me, then respect me enough to treat me like a classy lady.

Sorry, rant over. That's kind of a sore spot.
