Cab Cards

OK, what the heck is a cab card? From what I gather it is much like a prepaid phone card for use with Qualcomm. Not all truck stops have them and not all even know what they are. I read the card that came with the previous driver of my truck. Of course, the card itself isn't there.
Also, there are various ways to recharge your card. I tried to sign up using my comdata card and it says it isn't authorized. I have not tried a credit card. I tried to look all this up online and my computer froze up. I'm going back to Qualcomm's website to see if I can find additional information.

What brought all this on was that I was stuck in a remote area of South Dakota with absolutly no phone service for two and a half days.

You pretty well guessed it.

A cab card is a pre-paid card that allows you to send and recieve private email messages through the QC, assuming your company has that option activated.

Most of the time when I would see cab cards available at truck stops they were in a vending machine along with some phone cards.

Re: Cab Cards

Some of the fuel stops carry them, just make sure to keep the reciept, as some boneheaded cashiers do not activate them properly. If I am not mistaken, they can be acquired in DM. I had overheard another driver say something about it.

I keep meaning to grab one, but either the fuel stop does not have it, or I forget to look. Go figure.

A cab card is also the tractor registration card. Completely different than a prepaid phone card, but just wanted you to know. It'd suck if you had a random inspection on the road and the officer asks for the cab card and permits and you hand him a phone card

Thats what I though? Last inspection I went through I was asked to get my log book, license, medical card and cab cards (which is all your permits, registration, insurance information and company info).

The cab card lists those states in which you are legally allowed to operate.

I knew what he was asking about. However, many many newbies read these messages as well and may not know all of the terms.
