NOT. Less competition, higher prices.

I always choose a petro over a TA when possible....now i guess that just wont be the same..... I vote no good

Overall, Petros are pretty good. There are also some good TAs. 'Course some of the bad TAs are...well...bad.

At any rate, changes won't be immediate and won't happen overnight.

Supposed to run as 2 seperate companies like they are now....we'll see.

Petro > TA

TA's are 50/50 on quality, Petros are more like 90/10 (in favor of the driver)

While I'll agree it's bad, I don't go to Petros unless it's my last resort. I've gotten tired of being asked to leave the driver's area of the restaurant for "not looking like a driver". It eventually got to the point that I would change into a company tshirt or hat to just not get hassled by the waitstaff. I mean, I like the idea they like to keep that area set up for drivers, but the attitude with which they approached me was horrible. I have no problems showing you my CDL - if you *ask* for it before throwing me out...

i agree, it's a bad, baaaaaad, thing.

Although some T/A's are ok. I.e., amarillo, albert lee.

Are T/a's individually owned? Or all corporate?

I always try to gravitate towards Flying J's. Although i feel Petro and yes, begrudginly, T/A has better food and buffets than flying J.

When I drove, I dressed in casual T-shirts and baggy khaki pants that I always have worn and still do and didn't ever look like a stereotypical "truck driver" (looked more like a slacker college student, lol) but I never got hassled in "driver only" seating sections. :?
