Truckload of 'candy'?

Naughty naughty; yesterday near Inver Grove Hts, MN they pulled over a supsicious truck (driving too slow and weaving)......anyway, they said they were hauling candy and were lost; packed behind the candy was 1 1/2 tons of dope- like $3 millon worth- yikes! It came up here from Mexico- how'd they get that far w/out being caught?? Thats some candy alright- omg

marcel27208 05-30-2007 08:42 PM

Not too long ago, a trucker was busted with millions of dollars of pot in his trailer(came from mexico was on way to NY) this happened on I-85 in davidson co in NC, guess he had a few stops along the way huh

shyykatt 05-31-2007 10:45 AM

I just don't get how they get away w/it; I always thought the trailers/trucks were checked real good along the way?

Not if it is a sealed load. What I dont figure........if driver is hauling a sealed load by the shipper b4 the driver can inspect the load, where is the driver able to defend himself?

I am sure this has come up somewhere, sometime.

Roadhog 05-31-2007 11:05 AM

:P musta been nose candy.

In my Opinion I think those loads that get caught are narced by the shippers that ship them to get others loads through undetected. To me it makes no sense as to how law enforcement gets so lucky with drug busts.

I have driven for many years and I have never had to open my doors for any inspection by Law enforcement even when I have picked up loads at the border. Just my opinion.

Heh heh heh. I have.

I got pulled over in the Tarheel for a random level 1 (I think it is, just the paperwork inspection and a quick walk around for obvious problems.) He was writing up my papers when he said something or other about what I was hauling. He had been friendly, and I was in a good mood, and I had a little lapse of judgement.

I said, "Well, we used to haul Mexicans, but I figured North Carolina has plenty of Mexicans now, so we just haul bedroom furniture."

Open mouth, insert foot.

"Now you know I have to inspect this load now, don't you son?"

Oh well. I didn't have anything on but a couple pallets of furniture and a whole lot of dispatcher brains. No hidden trap doors, no stash of illicit booty, etc., and he could tell I wasn't acting like there was anything I didn't want him to find, so he spared me actually dissecting my tractor all over the road. I thought about that later though, and realized how ugly that could have been. I could have been up until 5:00 in the morning putting my truck back together far enough to get some sleep.

Stupid.

But still funny as hell looking back on it.

:P Silvan......I know the feelin' man.

True story.... (for some reason I have to quantify that)

I walked into the Utah/Wyoming chicken shack for their paper check.
There were 2 female and one male DOT behind the counter.
You know me...I look guilty or planning to be guilty from 20 paces off. :?

A sauntered up to the cutest DOT...

( shut up..the blonde female about 5'8" 35 years old and looked like
a Tammi...or a Staci ....grrrrrrsslobberslurpsmak pant..pant...pant )

She looked at my papers, then asked "what was I haulin'" ...and I replied
..."Frozen Chinese." She looked up at me...and with a straight face said...
"you know thats illegal."
I cocked one eyebrow...gave a slight snicker...and said..." yeah...
you ought to hear all the bitchin' after I thaw them out."

...if you know me...you know I started in with more aggressive foreplay.
It's a true wonder how I got out of there without being handcuffed and detained in the holding cell.

I get tired of chaching our tails on the drug stuff.. of course this is a colossal waste of time, funds and effort and these drug people are filling the wants and needs of the American people. America is the worlds drug vacuum! I do not blame the drug dealers and or transporters and never really have. I blame the recreational drug users than create the market.

I blame low wages, and the high price of gas. :? :)

Shame on you Roadhog. You KNOW you have to blame Bush FIRST. Then if that don't stick you may place blame where you choose. :P

Jimbpard 06-01-2007 06:30 AM

I blame the high price of gas and Bush. If Kerry was president, we wouldnt have ANY drugs around. Afterall, he served in the Korean conflict

busted

I read a story in landline about an O/O who was hauling one of those big asphalt rolling machines had all the paper work, he pulls in for an inspection and a drug sniffing dog goes nuts!. Someone packed the inside of the roller with dope. It was a few years back, he lost his truck everything , I haven`t heard what the whole out come was.

Mr. Ford95 06-01-2007 10:34 AM

Saw one yesterday on 95 in Stafford, Va. They were going nuts over the truck after they had pulled him over I reckon. 2 officers had on bullet-proof vests, one was in the trailer with the other standing on the ground observing. Another was up in the cab and the driver was nowhere to be seen. Wasn't but 2 cruiser's(1 was State the other, the local county mounty) and the local Sheriff's DOT officer, a 3rd cruiser had just left as I came by. Didn't make today's local paper, maybe tomorrow's though. Been a lot of drug busts the past 3 days locally and not with trucks. Seized 122 pounds in one after the driver was stopped for doing 84 in a 65 and then allowed the officer to search the vehicle knowing he had coke in the trunk. The other took down 2 illegal's over 10, yes 10 whole ounces. Street value: $100,000 for that little ol 10 ounces and took a whole SWAT team to get the bust.

I go through border check points down here in Texas a couple of times a week.

They ask: " are you and American Citizen" Yes Sir
They ask: " is anyone in the truck with you" Nope, all by myself

They say: "Have a nice day"

I could have a sleeper full of whatever or whomever and they would never know it. Ever now and again, the dogs will sniff at the trailer tires. Although, I do see about once a week a big truck over in the impound area that they caught with contraband or a non-legal driver. They seem to focus more on the 4-wheeler traffic than the trucks.

Sealed or not, they have full legal authority to have you break that seal and open the trailer.

Oh, notice Wednesday that they have the truck with the scanner set up off to the side at the Laredo check point.

If Kerry were President, Osama Bin Laden would have the Lincoln Suite at the White House. Mexico would have annexed Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California by defualt. And as for drugs, there would be a candy stand on the white house lawn. Oh, and don't forget his wife, what was she French - and you know how cowardly the French are.

Its all a game. For every 4 trucks that get through, the dealers give up one easy catch to the cops. I really can't speak about that any further.

shyykatt 06-02-2007 01:58 AM

Well, it was 1 1/2 tons of marijuahoweveryou spell it; maybe thats why they couldnt drive well, do you suppose they took a little sample along the way lol?
