A REAL "Hate Crime" Channon Christian and Christop

With all of the recent phony hand-wringing here, there and yonder over the Duke Lacrosse players and Don Imus, I thought I would clue folks in to a more serious issue, the Racial Bias in the Mainstream Media (MSM).

Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom were butchered back in January of this year in a real "Hate Crime," but outside of Knoxville, Tennessee and a few blogs here and there, this story has gotten ZERO coverage in the MSM.

Do a GOOGLE search or check out the link if you're interested:

Maybe.. just maybe.. its not a NATIONAL news story....

Okay, I read the article, and it's an interesting question brought up by an obviously BIASED author. But, compared to the more sinister dealings in this country, mostly by the current - and probably former - administrations, I don't see it as a major problem facing society.

I live in the South where black on white crimes, often of a heinous nature, are daily fare on the news. But, I doubt that many of those cases make national news.

In fact, in all my years, I have seen almost NO national news stories coming out of Tennessee, and it's right next door to me. On the other hand, I believe there is a national story running right now about a black man who beat up a 73 yr old woman in Florida or somewhere. The Robert (Roger?) Denny case made national news, as did the Rodney King beating on the other hand. But, NEITHER made news because of the races involved so much as the underlying factors - rioting on the one hand, and police brutality on the other.

I agree that the MSM is cheap and sensationalist as concerns the nonstop coverage of such mundane stories as Anna Nicole and Spears, and they may BE clueless as to what Americans really want to know about. However, to say that all Americans REALLY want to know about this one case you referenced, implies that all Americans are racist and want to see more reasons to bolster their beliefs.

Personally, major cases of white on black hate crimes, in violation of the civil rights movement in this country, ARE somewhat newsworthy. Whereas, the reverse is unfortunately all too common (where I live) and I see WAY too much of it.

Furthermore, I believe (as I alluded to) that such crimes get more airtime here in the South PRECISELY because the public here is still WAY too prejudiced and wants to prove their point. Conversely, I don't believe the whole country feels that way and, therefore, may not need to show every case.

The fact that the referenced case was all the buzz on certain blogs, only proves that most bloggers are extremely biased (whether over race or politics) and have found a less lethal way of venting their anger.

Thanks Charlie. These kids deserved some recognition.

There will be a rally in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 26th in memory of these kids and to protest against the national pandemic of Black-on-White crime that is plaguing this country.

Counting two (white specifically) deaths and getting all riled up about it is like wandering a field of clovers complaining about only the four leafed variety. Deaths are Deaths, murder is murder. For years the shoe was solidly on the other foot and whites could pretty much kill any minority and get away with it on technicalities and of course being judged in all white courts by all white juries based on all white perceptions. Murder is wrong and horrible and all that, but its still very amusing to me that now that the whites are getting a fraction of some of the treatment that American minorities have gotten for the last couple of hundred years, they stomp their feet and demand that something be done immediately because they are being discriminated against ..

Hmmmmm

Murder is murder...and these murders ARE exceptionaly brutal. :? Fozzy obviously can afford to be nonchalant about them, as he has no need to be concerned about such a crime.
If I hadn't scrolled down, I personally would not have heard of them.

I'm glad Charlie took a personal enough interest, to post His concern on his website. That may well give the families & friends, whom do care about those 2 kids, greater comfort, than anything posted on biggoted & biased websites.

Whoooooooooooooooooooooopie... two whole murders.... when compared to the institutional types of wholesale slaughter perpetuated by the majority on other supposedly equal citizens, it's going to take a lot more to get me all excited about it. The murders were tragic and horrible and all of the things that most Americans and humans feel about murder, but to equate this hate crime legislation and to compare it to the reasons that civil rights laws where created, voted on and enforced in primarily the south is to miss the point... conveniently of course. It seems a bit too little to late and of course opportunistic to the same groups who didn't believe that there was any need for addressing the real civil rights problems in this country in the first place. This seems to really be bringing out the sheets and pillowcases lately.
