I'm guessing that you are on one of the ice roads.

I am not "hating"....the OP asked a question, and I anwsered it....plain and simple

LadyNorthStar 04-19-2007 08:31 AM

Yep Colt I was in the truck.

I would've been more interested if he'd stated he was doing the ice roads instead of asking if was a gps error with nothing but a hard to see pic.

He hasn't SAID that he was on the Ice Roads, but since he didn't deny it, perhaps he was.

Point is.... GPS systems DO make these kinds of errors for real. I used to work for Onstar, and you wouldn't BELIEVE how many restaurants are located 20 miles out to sea!!!

My biggest problem with gps systems, is that MOST errors are much more minor, and even our trained advisors couldn't usually "catch" the mistakes! Some people think that because it's a "satellite" system, it can't make mistakes. The problem is that the databases are HUGE, and almost EVERYTHING is typed in at some point, by a human.

It's NOT the coordinates given by the satellite that are wrong, it's the integration onto a MAP that gives the problems.

"It's not an ocean, it's a sea." I thought was a good hint, and a pic of a leak on the ice, well was also a good hint. I was out on the Baufort Sea.
