Road Construction

Hey, thought I'd start a thread with some pics of what I do to the roads, and with what equipment. Hope ya enjoy. More will be posted later as time goes on. If you want them. :)

A Few of the trucks on my crew, and the machine. I guess I got promoted from Water truck driver to Operator.

Seems like around here it's more "road DESTRUCTION" than construction.

My dad owns a road construction outfit so I know a bit about this stuff.

Jorlee go ahead and post some more pics.

What a day. Didn't take the camera with me, since it's first day of the season. Hopefully tomorrow if the wind is right, fricken dirty up on top.

This construction company doesn't have any pavers. Just mills, cranes, and other supporting equipment.

I have to say some people don't deserve to be in a truck. How hard is it to see the truck is full, and you might want to think about tailgating the one being filled. It's not rocket science. Have to keep the mill moving.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have better pics.

Cool pics, keep them comin' :D

Been on a few jobs where we had to move with the grinder. For most people it is pretty much common sense - one honk go, two honks or whatever the operater wants to do. I was on a job last summer and some of the "foriegn drivers" the county was using could under stand the concept, and of course made a mess of the job. :x

Here's some more. Pretty decent day. Most of the truckers are getting quite good now. :D

Thought ya might want to see the engine compartment of this beast.

CAT 3408 I think it's putting out 625 or 650 HP. Haven't come close to really bogging her down yet. Overall very good day. Speedo quit working but i'd estimate average speed was 80-95 FT/min, basically moving along really well.

Hoping to get done friday, but probably have some to do on saturday. Then move to probably Hermosa, SD (south of Rapid City). It's probably because the plan can change at least 5 times before we're done.

Looking back
