hi ...
im a truck driver based near london in the uk , i work for a firm doing international work all over east and west europe . what is it like driving in the usa compared to europe ... better or worse ? great site , just wanted to say hi to everyone :?

I don't know - I've never driven in Europe.
|
it can be confusing at times if im tired because in the uk we drive on the left but in mainland euroe they drive on the right so i gotta remember where i am . another problem is language , each country speaks a different language and their police and customs have different views on whats right or not . but on the whole its a good job

From what my girlfriend who is from southwest London said, both are about the same with the nuances. She tried driving here just once our interstate and said she would never do it again. Said we drive like Germans on the Autobahn but with a whole lot more traffic moving at a higher rate of speed. Once you understand what is right and wrong and the signage, they are about the same overall.

Our Tractors are bigger....our roads are for the most part bigger too, and some of us drive longer routes. I drive 500- 700+ miles a day...occasionally more...rarely less. We only have to look blank at the Southwestern docks when they speak Spanish. ......and we don't have to put up with any stinkin' Froggie's!!!! |
true mate , i guess i average 300 to 500 miles a day , you know the best thing about france ... it is p+o ferries because it takes you out of the place .

Tons of drivers from Eastern Europe too, and it seems like every time I go to buy fuel, there's some truck driver in a turban. Not that I have anything against these people. Hell, I speak French. (And Spanish.) Though the guys in the turbans do worry me a little. I think personally, dude, I would take that thing off if I were pulling a hazmat load. Personally. |

And that frigging tunnel? Microwaved croissants a drivers meal? Errrrrrm ....NOT!  Welcome to CAD too mate  |
never been with sea chance mate , would rather open sun roof and risk driving there myself , as for the train ... it was ok when it first started food was free etc , but now its like a fiver for an airline meal thats so hot it could melt plastic and gotta be done and dusted in half hour , its funny watching the spanish trying to drive onto the train though
