Epidemic of roadside `trucker bombs' litters highways, riles states

By Howard Witt

CASPER, Wyo. -- The first thought that occurs to a driver cruising down Wyoming's long, lonely highways is that a lot of folks out here must really like lemonade, given how many plastic jugs and bottles half-filled with lemonade-looking liquid litter the roadside.

And then a third, more disturbing, revelation dawns: That's not lemonade in those bottles. It's urine.

While most of us weren't looking, a new epidemic appears to have broken out along the nation's interstate system: a plague of "pee bottles," also known as "trucker bombs," uncounted thousands of nasty soft-drink bottles and milk jugs filled with liquid human waste tossed by drivers, usually long-haul truckers, who can't be bothered to stop at restrooms.

In defense of truckers

Spokesmen for the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, a truckers advocacy group, declined to be interviewed on the topic. But Internet discussion groups catering to truckers are alive with the most common explanation for the problem: Truck drivers are under enormous time pressures and often cannot afford to stop to relieve themselves.

O.K. what's the excuse for finding them littering the truck stops?? I've seen them many times all over the lots. There are garbage containers. If you're on the road all you need to do is place it behind your seat or in the truck compartment till you get somewhere and can dispose of it properly. I think many are just lazy and can't be bothered. Drive safe everyone. :)

I get real tired of lazy drivers.

The 400 pounders that park right next to the fuel island, block everyone just so they can get their bag of twinkies.

now now mowman, not everyone that parks next to,or in front a fuel island, is some 400 lb driver that is too lazy to walk,i myself have been known to park long enough in the vicinity of the fuel island just long enough to go in side to relief myself, and i only weigh 230 lbs :D

but i know what you are talking about, the only way this is going to stop is if we,the less lazy drivers, open our mouths and say something, been driving for quite a while now,and when i first started driving,i was told, when you have to go,you have to go,but,i chose to go in the restroom at either a truckstop,or rest area.

nothings going to change unless we change it ourselves.

ps:yes i have used a bottle, but i know how to dispose of it
