A 19 year old girl was reported missing from the Pilot Truck Stop on I-40 in Little Rock on November 17th. Her body was found 2 weeks later in Memphis. She was selling magazine subsciptions at the Pilot Truck Stop (right across from the Petro) at the Galloway Exit.

Police found the body dumped south of downtown Memphis on Third Street near Westview Road on November 26th. But it wasn't until Tracy Jones' mother in Oregon recognized her daughter's tattoos that police were able to identify the body. Now police are searching for her killer.
NLRPD is now assisting Memphis police in this homicide. They have very few leads to go on other than the 19-year old was selling magazine subscriptions by herself at truck stop in North Little Rock four weeks ago when she vanished. Now they're looking for her killer.

"She was a very high-spirited girl, outgoing and very friendly to people that were friendly to her," says family friend Jim Haley via phone from Oregon.

A female body was found stabbed to death in a wooded area in south Memphis. She had no identification on her and it took until early this morning for MPD to ID the body as Tracy Jones, 19. Jones was selling magazine subscriptions alone at a truck stop when she disappeared November 15th.

"This is particularly tragic because it happened in Arkansas, but also in a pretty high profile public place, you just don't expect that to happen," says FBI Agent Steve Frazier.

For three weeks NLRPD detectives had little to go on, not knowing the body found two hours to the east, stabbed to death, was Tracy Jones.

"There's no way that those kids at that age should be dropped off helter-skelter, let alone by themselves,” Haley says. “They should at least work in groups."

MPD detectives believe her body was dumped shortly after she was killed, but they don't know where she was killed. The FBI is not working the case yet, but agent Steve Frazier says it will be tough to solve.

"The difficulty at the scene of the abduction is right now we don't have any witnesses, there's no traditional forensic evidence like hairs or fibers in a really highly public place like this," Frazier says.

Her family firmly believes she left North Little Rock against her will.

"Absolutely, she wouldn't go with anybody she didn't know," Haley says.

They want those responsible arrested quickly.

"If you saw something just let somebody of authority know about it,” Haley says. “We've got to catch this guy."

Memphis detectives say they are working to connect the dots between the Pilot truck stop in North Little Rock and where they found Tracy Jones. They are asking anyone with information, especially eyewitnesses who saw her at the truck stop, to call either Memphis or North Little Rock police detectives.

"She was selling magazine subsciptions at the Pilot Truck Stop" Why? Sometimes members of the human race self-select themselves out of the living. I can't get past selling subscriptions at a truck stop. A nineteen year old is an adult, maybe a naive adult, but an adult none the less. BOL

its always a tragedy when someone dies or is killed but what i dont understand is selling magazine subscriptions at a truckstop?

Wow. I've fueled/showered/slept at that truckstop plenty of times when I ran the road. That place always gave me the creeps.

This pilot has had problems through the years with lot lizards winding up dead, makes you wonder.

Maybe she figured truckers have alot of downtime waiting to load or whatever and that they might buy magazines. This doesnt seem that strange or maybe I am missing something.

dont sound strange to me, if you were to see the inside ofmy turck it looks like a library with an optional nukerwaze... no tv, just a laptop and alot of books on stuff that intrest me. (woodworking, fishing ect)

Call me callous, I've been called worse. I do have sympathy for her family. BOL
