There were lots of exaggerated stories floating around the emails with this photo. They are one big ugly 8-legged freak....but no threat to humans. They don't eat Camels either. They can run 10 mph and will eat a scorpion...so these guys could be fun to leash and keep as desert guard dogs.
They are about the size of a child's hand to a grown mans hand. We have them here in the US deserts as well. If you have been in our own deserts...there are some gnarly creatures out there, but this spider is only gonna freak you out...not hurt you. They are quite decent about eating you. They first inject a local anesthetic in your belly flesh, so you don't even feel them eating away your flesh, and you usually don't realize anything until you start stepping on the intestines you are dragging. :?

I saw plenty of camel spiders but those photos are all exagerated to make them look Huge.
It's like catching a fish and holding it in your hands with outstretched arms which make it look Big :P

Nastiest creature was the Damned scorpion

Saw a couple of camel spiders and they can run FAST
Had a buddy bit by a Red Scorpion and he was hurting. Black buddy of mine came up to me one day and said he came up upon a Camel Spider and it stood up on it's rear legs and Wanted to Fight LMAO

Ain't nothing but a bigger pest that a size 14 boot should be able to exterminate rather simply....................right???? :D

Yeah if you don't mind getting close to critters like that and I don't.

All these critters were doing what we were doing-Trying to get out of that Blast Furnace Sun and fighting for some shade.
