Charter Bus Drivers

Just curious how many are Charter Bus Drivers, and/or what most truck drivers really think of Charter Bus Drivers.

I think they need to slow down. Every time i see them there hauling azz.

That's one thing I particularly like about our buses, they are governed at 73.

well whos cares if they go 55 or 85 you guys get paid by the hr. dont ya

I don't think too highly of them, especially the one's around my locale who drive the same route everyday. They drive just like a 4 wheeler, with their brain unplugged. At the last second, they will cut you off in the blink of an eye to go from the very left lane of the interstate across 2 lanes and over into the exit lane when they knew 5 miles ago where their exit is since they get off there every day of the week. If they can't get over, that bus becomes a weapon, they just start pushing their way over.

They do have their own way of driving don't they? :P

usncporetired...welcome.
I think as in any part of CMV driving, you have good and bad drivers, and most of us fall somewhere in between. I have had some bad experiances from sharing the road with Bus drivers, but to be fair...more reasons to wanna give someone a 40-ton enema, toward other CAD's.
One thing we can all agree on though...sharing the road with civilians is a daily irratation.
I hear Bus drivers do make better income than OTR...for the most part. Can't see me wanting that job though. I like my load frozen and not staring at the rather large hump on my back. :?

Well knowing how they drive from a professional drivers standpoint, "I will never in my life step one foot in one of those buses again." Since driving, I have not had one good experience around buses.

One example, I was east bound on I-70 coming into the destruction zone at I-75 by Dayton. I was in the left lane(where you needed to be), going about 50 through the lane shift, this buss comes flying in at about 65 or so and nearly lost control and smacked into me. He actually pushed me to the wall. My tires were within an inch or so from the jersey barrier. Doesn't sound very dramatic but believe me it was.

In my opinion, these buses should be held to the same or even higher standards than semi drivers. Only for the fact they carry upwards of 60 something people as their cargo. They are extremely dangerous and I try to avoid them when possible.

Not sure what standards you are referring to. We are all required to have a minimum of Class B, with passenger and air brake endorsement. Although, at the company I work for, 75% of us have Class A, including myself. It just seems when I am driving down the road, if I wave, no response, if I flash lights for clearance, no response, etc.

Copy that...usn.
I try to treat all Driver's with courtesy and respect. I say try...because sometimes I'm preoccupied. I look at all Driver's the same, and most of the time the courtesy is extended back.

Last Bus driver I talked with was sitting with me at a Burger Diner. He was a retired Cop, and worked OTR, then found his niche driving Bus. We swapped lies and made for our rigs with equal heartburn.
