Question. Do you live in Iowa?

Reread my quote and make sure you read the FIRST part of the sentence.

So far, in my state elections
That's a pretty key phrase, right there. Reading Comprehension 101. Give it a try.

Government issues, being informed, and voting are very important to me. I live here...I know what the candidates stand for. You may now remove the foot from your mouth.

That said, I'm off to the voting machine in a few hours. Republican...check, Republican...check, Independent....check, Republican...check, etc. etc. etc.

What? No democrats? Well, when I see one that I consider worth voting for, I'll chew on it for a while. So far, in my state elections, the democrats are all staunch tax-raising, family-trashing liberals - not something I want governing my state. :x

But political leanings aside, get out and vote. Doesn't matter who you vote for, it's important that your voice is heard. Registered Republicans are supposed to vote today...Independents tonight after midnight...and Democrats tomorrow after 7:00 a.m.

My grandpa used to be big in Iowa politics. Time magazine reported someone paying him back $100 that they owed him during the depression and he built a swimming pool and let everyone use it. He was a hog/corn farmer, but grandma had the money.

In time he was pretty popular and rose to the head of the local Farm Bureau. Eventually he was President of the American Farm Bureau Federation. :)

He was always fighting the Democratic tyranny in Chicago after that.

But here's the thing... My grandfather worked so hard that he didn't spend much real time with his family and that hurt my father and in turn me.

So I don't really see this family value thing the Republicans talk about. Plus, I don't know if you watched it, but Capital Crimes with Bill Moyers showed how the Christian Republicans under the leadership of DeLay and Abramoff set up the Mariana Islands as a haven for their rich supporters to factory clothing... and the women workers were forced to agree to ABORTIONS as a condition of employment. And then, some of the profits from that abhorrent requirement were used to fund their Family Values campaign...

I'm just not a fan of that kind of hypocrisy.
:)

What do Delay and Abramoff and outlandish conspiracy theories have to do with those that ran for office in Iowa? Again, reading comprehension 101.

FWIW, there's corruption in every party, to varying degrees and I didn't vote a straight party ticket for that reason. I voted for those that I felt would best handle the job that I want them to do, including a couple of democrats. The problem is, there are not many out there like me anymore. You've got people pissed off at Bush, so they're voting for someone from the other party who is clearly not a good choice. And that's where my concern lies...with MY state at the moment. Right now, in Iowa, Iowans voted in individuals are going to bite them in the ass. Guaranteed.

Bill over at Crete said IOWA stands for Idiots Out Wandering Around. We proved that at the polls. :?

Blindly voting a purely straight ticket is like "a bawx of chaw-ko-lits"...

I'm sorry, I thought you mentioned Republicans. If you didn't, My bad. :)

Here's a link to Capital Crimes, if you haven't seen it, you owe it to yourself to watch.
