New invention...would it be useful?

I have thougth up a system where there are sensors on a trailer that detect vehicles to the side of you.
WHen you turn on your signal for a lane change your in cab indicator would flash red if there was a vehicle next to you. WHen it's all clear and there is nothing to your side, it would flash green.

I thought of this a few years ago when I was SICK of truckers running me off the road because they couldn't pass properly.

well maybe you should ride along in there blind spot. If am not mistake i think it is all ready out there. Alot of company's i don't think would be interested because one tractor can pull so many diff trailers they usually don't keep the same ones on.

Try looking up the Eaton VORAD system.

If they are beside your trailer.. they can be seen in easily the mirrors.

USXpress has the Eaton VORAD. The side sensor is a black diamond box on the passenger side, as well as the front sensor that looks like oversized license plate mount. And, as the last poster stated, if it's beside your trailer, you can see it.

I did have a Maryland DOT officer think that the vorad box inside the cab was a radar detector. I had to make him get in behind the wheel as i walked past the sensors to prove to him what it really was.

Speaking of new inventions, I built a device that was rather useful when I was otr, though maybe someone else might be interested. I was tired of getting in and out of the cab to try to line up the correct holes on the tandems when sliding them. So, I built a magnet with a pressure switch on it that you attatch to the rail with a short cable and clamp with a light on it. What you do is stick that magnet with switch over the hole you want, and clip the light onto the outside rail of the trailer (takes about 5 seconds). Switch it on, and start sliding. When the pin gets to the hole you want, the light comes on. Then you get out, take the device off (another 5 seconds), and let the latch go and you're good to go. Worked great for me, and I always thought about marketing it at a cheap price. Has anyone ever heard of one of these or am I actually an original inventor? I think others could bennefit from it like I did. Cause god knows I was tired of jumping in and out of the cab to find the right spot, especially in the snow and rain! Thanks.
