Has anyone here ever used a liver cleanse?

A young woman just wrote me that it helped her after she'd had a few months encounter with toxins.

But when I went to look at them... they were very different than I'd expected, and different one from the other.

Any experience?

Well... I had kind of thought I'd hear more than this...

So...

I'm going to post the email I just received from the same young woman who first mentioned Liver Cleanse to me.

HI karen, when i did my cleanse i used one whole lemon and 2 tablespoons of epsom salt. and water i did not use the olive oil. because i think that the olive oil is what form those stones the combination of epsom salt lemon and olive oil forms stones. but what i did learn is that the epsom salt and lemon water .purges the liver of toxins and bile that might be stored and with the clostridia so e of that comes out of our bile. i believe that the olive oil is a bunch of science stuff that form fake stones i donot have a gallbladder anymore. so there is no stones. to be removed for me but i take the epsom salt lemon to draw out toxins in my body. i use 1 teaspoon of olive oil sometimes to draw the bile out of my liver sometimes.but not for stones.
See, the interesting thing is that she had the sewer problem that made for her living in hydrogen sulfide for a couple months prior to getting the tetanus. (Clostridia is the tetanus bacteria.) So her experience and mine were very similar. And each of us is having a lot of trouble, still, with your muscles. Ordinarily the idea is that if you live through the tetanus then you totally recover. 40 to 60 per cent of people who get it die. But neither she nor I has fully recovered, so maybe it's because of our exposure to the toxins before hand.

Hence my interest in the Liver Cleanse...

Okay, but I wrote back to her:

Oh,,,, you did use Epsom salt... that's what my friend Diana used and when she did it twice, close together, she upset her body's systems. I forget. But do be careful.

I was going to buy one of the liver cleanse products.

I just didn't quite understand the ingredients. It looks as if dandelion is basic... and I remember my Polish grandfather saying it was good for the blood... that could also mean the liver, I suppose.

And the products tended to include Milk Thistle. I worked with a man once who swore by Milk Thistle.

One product had this Chinese thing in it that I knew nothing about... so I had wondered if maybe that was what you used...

Thank you for your help. I'm afraid to use the Epsom salt because of how badly Diana ended up because of it
.
I'm really tempted to post the compare thing on the pages where I was looking at the products, and also post a poll so I could see what several people think.

Okay, this is what she wrote back to me, and I thought it was really interesting:

milk thistle is for hepatitis, liver dieases stuff like that but i have tried dandelion before you have to use it to long before you can see any results. herbs are good but the side effect like allergic reactions i don't want to risk. i do know the liver cleanse works because my doctor test my cholesterol and it was kinda high so she said that she was gonna prescribe liptor for my cholesterol . so i told her that i would diet instead first to see if that would help. i went home and did a liver cleanse and when shee tested me again my cholesterol was normal so i didn't have to take.the lipitor. bile build up in your liver it causes high cholesterol so many people don't know this bile is cholesterol. i was scared also to use epsom salt too. i later found out that it is safe to take epsom salt people acually use it for a laxative. uyou just have to use a small amount and drink lots of water and space your cleanses.
Then, in a second email she wrote,

Oh they say the chinese bitters work well also.

liver cleanse? wtf?

oh and if your friends house was full of hydrogen sulfide she`d be dead

Hi Brian...

ah, nooooo, not correct about the hydrogen sulfide.

Yes, it would be correct if it was the full amount you'd get in a sewer... but in a home, like my condo that was built over part of any old privy pit... the amount is very small, but it has a deadly effect on nerves. For sure. From experience I am telling you.

She had something like that, where it does nerve damage.

I thought maybe people here would be interested. My Polish grandfather who lived to just days shy of a hundred used to talk about ... let me see if I can remember the words he used... He used to talk about a Spring Tonic, and I think that was the dandelion... and bitters.

nerve damage is still bad though

I didnt mean to muddle up your thread i`m just a firm believer in when its your time to go its your time to go, heck my grandma lived to 90 smoking cigarettes and eating junk food, my wifes great grandfather is 97 and he still eats his bacon and eggs every morning and buys his can of cope on a daily basis

Hi Brian,

What a gentleman! Thank you, that was very nice.

But, you weren't muddling it. I think you made an excellent contribution because a lot of people who have ever heard of hydrogen sulfide have only ever heard the really serious stuff. I mean, men do die from it in work situations every year.

What I've been wanting to mention is that the amount in my house was really small. It was under the amount that is considered safe to work in...

But, that amount can come from an ill-fitted toilet, or drains where the water in the ... what is that thing called again, where the drain pipe has a curve in it ??? ... if the water in that dries up because it's in a second bathroom that's not used, something like that, then the sewer gas can get into the house that way.

I began to fall a lot, to not be able to remember: I was reading a book I really liked, but the day after reading a huge percentage of it, I could barely remember if I'd been reading the day before... I lost interest in reading mysteries and Dean Koontz books because there's not much fun in it if you can't remember the characters or the events...

But one thing that caught my attention later, was that I began losing a lot of hair. My hair was always falling out. Every hour I could take 5 to 10 strands of hair off my teeshirt...

See, I think people might take seriously the wheezing that hydrogen sulfide causes, but hair falling out? I think we tend to think that's fairly common...

Does this stuff come from Ronco?

BT Barnum was correct.

Oh dear...

I remember my mother using Epsom Salt. She said that it cleansed the system, but I don't recall any mention of using anything else with it, or cleansing the liver specifically. She used to pinch enough between 3 fingers and chase it with water. I don't have any idea if it works or not. My guess is that it would cleanse the system, but I am not sure about the liver specifically. I think many of the older remedies people used to use worked much better than these you pay a lot of money for today. I would take the Epsom Salts and forget the rest. :?
