If you could own and operate any new truck what would it be?
If you were to have the cash to buy any new OTR truck on the road, what would you buy?
Take the following into consideration, in no particular order of importance. 1. Profitability 2. Reliability 3. Quality 4. Function 5. Durability 6. Styling I know some of you will say, you need to know what the truck will be used for, but for this post let's just say best all around truck. :moose: |
I would chose the Freightliner Classic but I would half to yank the Detroit and put in a Cat.

The only problem, i see for you, it's to get to a sleeper, can't see it as a big deal, cause once you inside, it's quiet comfortable! It's well build, efficient truck, made by KW, and sharing the same platform with w9. In 20 some years, all the bugs, were worked out, and it's much more reliable, and cheaper in maitemance, than T2000. It's always a compromise, you get something, you loose something. IMO KW T600, is the best compromise! 8) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y21...3/DSC00026.jpg |
A new MACK RAWHIDE or one of them Western Star low rider trucks. the LOW MAX i think its called.

Considering what you are asking...
If you were to have the cash to buy any new OTR truck on the road, what would you buy? It would be a Pete 379...and I would have a long list of specs...from color to drive skirts, and options of every kind....especially that little fuel operated heater...I forget what they are called, but they will let you run heat off a tiny motor, and let you shut your engine off. Experianced one in a T-600...and I loved that option. I've run with all the Trucks you listed except for the Coronado...and quite a few of the Other catagory. My close second would be the KW-900, but I'd have to flip a coin considering the Pete 387. In reality...I'll never have to make this decision. Never hauled with a Western Star...I bet those are awesome rides....but still...it's the 379 Pete for me. Reality Sucks ! :P |

He did mentioned profitability... |
A new VT880, cause it's big and it's a Volvo! With the 16 liter, of course. And I just want to drive it around in a parking lot a bit. I don't have a cdl.

 solo379
HELL NO..... I was going purely on the assumption, I'd have cash money to buy this wet dream...and after wiping away my tears...I only saw the last 5 of the 6 considerations. The extra I'd loose on fuel...I'd have to make up on a good resale price. :P In reality...oh hell ....that's too ugly...lets not go there. |
SOLO379,
I am still considering the T600, and the dealer told me they are now available with a swivel seat that will allow for easier pass thru to the sleeper, I have always loved the styling of the T600. The picture of yours is nice, and black always looks sharp on any truck. |
