That "hole" was no bigger than a can of Campbell's soup! Which is more realistic, Hoggie?
trust me… you guy's would LOVE ice fishing!
Hobo, we use 6"- 8"- and 10" ice augers to drill our holes. He was using an 8" in that video, and probably wishes he had a 10" auger.
Lots of guy's who don't fish these BIG fish a lot, or expect to hook onto one, use the 6 or 8 inch auger, and then wish they had a bigger hole.
Drilling 10" holes is W-A-Y harder, and also more dangerous, as then you have a hole big enough to step into, or drop stuff down.
Bad if you have any kids around!… or drunks.
Holes bigger than that, we chop out with a spud, or cut out with a chainsaw, and those are only used with permanent size shanty's that keep the hole heated
to keep it open, day after day, and not have to recut.
There is a lot of method to our madness. Even still the Darwin award committee, really love us.
Can't wait to get back to my vacation cabin on the lake. But right now, we are having a heat wave!
