UPDATE: A truck fire has prompted law enforcement officers to close both lanes of I-10 West in Vidor and a TxDOT spokesman told KFDM News he expects at least one lane to remain closed throughout the night.
The fire, reported shortly before 4 p.m. Monday, destroyed a box truck on I-10 near Claiborne West Park in Vidor.
There are no injuries.
Marc Shepherd with the Texas Department of Transportation tells KFDM News all westbound traffic has been rerouted to the frontage road near Doty Road.
Shepherd says it will take several hours for a contract crew hired by TxDOT to remove the wreckage. The contract crew must wait for the wreckage to cool before removing it and cleaning up the highway.
Shepherd expects one westbound lane of I-10 to reopen later Monday night but one lane will remain closed to allow crews to repair damaged asphalt on the highway. He says it could be Tuesday morning or afternoon before the work is finished and all lanes are reopened.

Is there something about Cascadia's? One burned to the ground on 99 near Stockton a few months ago.

I'm ashamed of you Stan, you posting something like this that you know nothing about on the actual situation. We don't know the details of why the truck caught fire. Someone COULD have been hurt or killed here and your posting it with a joke interwined. Same with Jumbo, that was mean and hurtful to the feelings.

Me sorry! Really!! Me sorry!!:lol:I had heard the afternoon of the accident, that the truck had hit a concrete barrier and exploded into flame. BUT...when you look through the pictures, the truck is stopped in a fairly straight line, the hood is clearly raised.....and it is really hard to tell exactly where the fire started.
If it started in the engine compartment...then it is amazing that the trailer went too!!
I was enroute to Beaumont, from the house, when a friend caught in the backup called me. She told me of the accident, I suggested one route that I might have used, to get past it, but she told me that she was just beyondthe intersection of that route and I-10....and stopped!! I ended up jumping off I-10 and taking TX62 up to TX12, then 12 west into Vidor.
I was able to get into Beaumont, take care of my business there, and return to Orange via alternate route, before Michelle (my stuck friend) was able to get rolling again....about 2 hours!
