Useless that truck weighs around 300,000lbs so I might have exzagerated just a bit but the what it would cost to repair the road would be way more than the cost of moving the truck.

Actually, you do very little shifting with an arrangement like that. First of all, you don't get anywhere near hwy speeds. For that matter, you don't get out of low range. Along with maintaining the same speed, spacing between trucks is critical. Take a good look at the picture. Do you see any chains or binders??? The wheels of the mining truck fit between the drops of the double-drop. It won't roll off front or back. But, if it were chained down, can you imagine the damage to the trailers by not being absolutely perfect on the spacing? Those trailers DO WARP. I don't see it in the picture, but you can use a couple of light ropes tied to each mirror bracket. The other end of each is hooked to the other truck with a tarp strap. Then, a flag is attached to each so that when the spacing is right, the flags are in the same place. And, not the same color. Red and blue, for example. If the blue flag gets closer to you, you're getting too close together. If the red flag moves toward you, you're getting too far apart.

No. I was not hauling a mining truck like that. We were doing stones from a quarry to a "cutting shed". 40' X 40' X 4' If you tried setting them on one trailer, they'd break in half. Not that we had a single trailer that would handle the weight. Actually, it wasn't all that bad until we had to turn a corner. THAT's when it got "HAIRY". But it's not like it was an every-day event. It took them 3 days to cut one stone. In the mean time, we were working on getting the next one out of the quarry.

O.K. I've been watching this thread... I do not claim to move such things. I think I posted this pic last year, but am too tired to look right now. I can't understand why this pic is so provocative to some... ? Why is it so amazing ? In my opinion, one truck could not get away from the other, even if the driver tried... Much bigger loads are moved everyday, lights are moved, even overpasses can be moved, yes the newer ones are designed to accommodate big loads. Even backing this would be easy I think, once the turn is started, I think one driver could let go of the wheel and the tractor would just naturally follow the load... In my opinion...

This is much bigger, and well, weighs 1.8 million lbs... Long trip too.
