Almost went up in flames

I picked up a 46000 lb load of hay in Panaca Nv last week. I went down to Vegas to shower, eat and fuel. The load delievered in Hart Tx. So never running that area before I looked at my map and nav system and decided to run 95 down to 163 over to Kingman Az and pick up 40. Good except one thing, I drive for a small company that leases cheap Frieghtliners with no extras. 79000 lbs, 6% grade for 6 miles and who put that damn redlight there in Laughlin?? Had dry hay on a stepdeck, smokin so bad at the light I had to bail out with the fire extinguisher. Never do that route that heavy with out JAKES again........

You've really got to keep it slow and easy when you don't have jakes. When I first started we didn't have jakes on our trucks. We all took it veeerrrry slow down steep grades, especially when we were heavy. The first truck that I purchased didn't have jakes. That is the last truck that I bought without a jake.

For a minute, I thought it was going to be the hay catching fire due to a regeneration.

Whoa! Good thing you made it out... That route can be tricky with heavy loads.
