Barr-Nunn Transportation Receives Highest Rating from EPA’s SmartWay Program

Granger IA (June 1 2009) — Barr-Nunn Transportation Inc. announced that it received the highest rating from the EPA’s SmartWay Transport Partnership program. Barr-Nunn received a 1.25 rating the highest a company can receive through SmartWay’s program. The program is aimed at reducing greenhouse gases while implementing measures to reduce fuel consumption within America’s transportation sector.


 


Barr-Nunn first began working with the SmartWay program in 2006.  Barr-Nunn agreed to set and strive for the attainment of environmental and fuel efficiency goals within three years that help improve the environment. The SmartWay program helped Barr-Nunn set improvement goals and calculate cost savings by implementing idling reduction strategies and policies; truck and trailer aerodynamic upgrades; improved pickup and delivery scheduling; tire upgrades and much more.
