(July 20 2007) Liberal Kan. Curt Jones of Madison Iowa has been named the Elite Fleet’s Driver of the Year by National Carriers Inc. (NCI) for his exceptional service and loyalty to the company. Jones has been an owner operator with NCI since September of 1992.

Jones who has been driving professionally for nearly 30 years says “I was surprised I was named Driver of the Year; it was a great honor.”

Previously Jones was named Driver of the Month in December 2005 and October 2006.  He reached the two million safe miles mark and has never had a service failure or accident in 14 years.

According to Jones his long safety record is credited to both luck and years of experience.  “Sometimes something about a situation just puts me on alert – I don’t even consciously think about it” he says.  “I pay attention to that intuition and it usually pays off.”

Jones says he’s hauled many loads and he still enjoys seeing the different parts of the country.  “I find people so interesting from one area to the next – how they talk what they wear” says Jones.  “I never get tired of that.”
As Driver of the Year Jones was given an award jacket a plaque and $5000.  He said he and his wife Lisa are still considering what to do with the extra cash.
