I hope somebody can help, because the breakdown department can't seem to..surprise.
My Freightliner is throwing black smoke on a periodic basis. Also, the fan switches on around 190 degrees or so and stays on for several minutes (6 to 8 to be exact). By the time the fan shuts off, my ears are ringing! The black smoke seems to come out when the fan comes on. The smoke trails off after about 2 minutes.
The turbo is not the problem and the shop could not find anything wrong. When I complained the second time, dispatch told me that the truck is DOT compliant and roll till it stops. Typical company attitude, but still not good for my ears...it really is a problem.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what the problem could be? Please? |

| Well My advice is have a base line test of your hearing then if you have hearing damage sue the crap out you company. or drive for one that cares about their drivers. |
