| I'd just put the thing on the passanger seat when I wasn't using it and on my lap when I was. Of course I wouldn't use it while driving. |

| You can't answer yes, and also answer how much you paid. If it isn't too late to edit your poll questions I think you should remove the yes option and put the word yes in front of the last 2 options instead. I can't figure out some other options like company driver. I could have an assigned truck and use one couldn't I? |

Way too expensive. Hell, i have used the Wet floor sign from a truck stop once. the ones tht only have two fold out legs that are flat. simply set one across your lap with one side standing on the cab floor and put the other one on the other side to support the part across your lap. looks something like this

| I do metalworking as a hobby. And trust me you can have those things built all day long CUSTOM for a whole lot less than 300 bucks. With high precision bearings, tolerances to .0005. This is just spam. Trying to sell something that should cost $39.95 at your local walmart for $300 |

Old thread but just in case anyone is interested.
I made a computer stand out of 2" pvc that I u-bolted to the base of the passenger seat. An 18" (give or take) section bolts to the base of the seat and connects to a 90 which connects to another 17 or 18" piece that angles up from the floor on about a 45 degree angle towards the top of the dash. The trick is to use a 3" toilet flange at the top connected to size adapters and a 45. The 4 holes in the flange provide a dandy way to connect a piece of 3/4" pressboard that the computer sits on. (I lined the top with rubber for grip and shock absorber.)
Trick number 2: remember how I said the upright piece is at a 45 degree angle? Those u-bolts at the base of the seat aren't going to hold it for too long. You need an upright piece of pvc that acts as a leg and supports the weight of the computer. If you put the upright right under the computer I think you'll kill your computer because of the endless bumps it will have to endure. I positioned my upright piece towards the mid-point but closer to the computer, maybe 2/3 of the way from the floor to the computer.
My Toshiba is still going strong after 1 1/2 years constant use with this setup. When I hit really serious bumps the computer sways back and forth on the pvc but I think that absorbs a lot of the shock and spares the computer. |
