Countryside!,

Good for you taking advantage of the polling option on this board. Kind of a neat feature, if you can get some feedback. Good luck with your poll, and help us spread the word about our chat room if possible. We are going to the Las Vegas Truck Show in June. If you get an opportunity to travel east from California, come pay us a visit at the show. I will post more info about the show as it draws nearer.

I always thought that truckstop in Walcott Ia was pretty neat...simply due to its size...almost like a small city.

If i remember right(someone correct me please)one of the best i've yet to see is called i believe the Giant Truck Stop in New Mexico. It's one of the only ones i've been to that is 100%
full service. You pull into the fuel islands and they fuel, check fluids, clean windows, etc. all while you wait inside. You get to log it(legally) off duty. :D

:aktion060.gif: I kinda like the TA at at exit 95 on I57 in Mt. Vernon, Il. The have very large showers that are usually pretty clean. They have decent food and the staff has been friendly everytime I go in there.

yes,i think you wouldnt have a problem of having a driver disagree about the services and top notch service at both the Iowa 80 and Giant truck stops!!however,,,the Iowa 80 is MUCH bigger as for parking go's and the service you get at the fuel island at the Giant is out of this world!!!the TA in mount vernon has some of the largest shower rooms ive ever seen besides the ones that is at Boise Stage Stop in Mayfield,Idaho.
thanks to those who quickly responded to my pool and special thanks go's to our classAdriver presidrent thanking me for starting a poll!!again,if y'all know of a cafe or a small out of the way truckstop that you like, please by all means let me know what makes it so special and where its located.

There is one place I stop at every time I go by there.
It's a mom and pop store with a brick oven/iron top smoker that is going 24/7. The sasuage is out of this world. You literally suck the meat out of the casing. You certainly don't want to eat this sasuage if your on a low fat diet. The hot link fresh out of the oven is $1.62 a link and the cooked cold links are $1.32 each. You buy two links hot from the oven and have him cut it up so you can eat it while driving. and then buy 4 or 5 links cold for when you get home to share with the wife. All you do to reheat is boil them for a couple of minutes.
here are the directions...

From San Antonio East on I-10, exit #649 to hwy Tx-97. At the stop sign take a left and go 1.9 miles to hwy 90.(Walder Texas) On your right is the J-Bar B sasuage plant. On your left is the grocery store next to the post office. Go in the front door through the grocery store to the screen door in the back past the meat case and you are in sasuage heaven.
From Houston, West on I -10 exit 653 to hwy 90 and take a right.
Go approx. 3 miles and you will be at the same intersection.
There is plenty of parking across the street.
Tell them Chilibowl sent you. maybe I can get some free sasuage for all the referrals :D
hope ya'll enjoy :aktion035:

The giant in New Mexico has shuttle service for the dudes who have to park out in the lower 40, what a place!
I found one yesterday in Charleston SC at exit 211a off of I 26
doesn't look like much from the road, but it too has shuttle service from the parking lot to the building and the best part it's clean, until the garbage shows up with pens in hand and too #### lazy to find the trash can. :aktion085:

The Red Barn in Goehner Ne.

Only business in town. Serves great home cooked meals at a reasonable price. Goehner, NE is about 35 miles west of Lincoln, NE on I-80! Northside of the Interstate. Restaurant is the last street on the west side of town.

Now excuse me, I need to get back to :aktion057:

i have acouple that i will keep to myself in hopes i having a spot to park in.But i have to add this Truck stops r good for only 1 thing and thats taking money from truck drivers. And for showers and parking but thats it and some places if u dont fuel the showers and the palce to park cost money. And to all u fat lazy truckers out there that cant seem to make time to stop to use a restroom,u know who u are the ones that use the gallon milk jug,and fill it full which means u had a jug of urine in your bedrrom for acouple of days(how sick is that)
with that aside y cant u at least put that jug in a trash can instead of setting it on the ground next to someone else rig,and pick your trash up too u guessed it the trash can.thats y these trucks stops have trash cans all over the place. And for those of u that choose not to bath while on the road, you stink you smell and theres no excuse for it all truck stops give free showers when u get 50gal or more of fuel,so stop making good clean truck drivers look bad take a bath and clean up after yourself.
