I found a job listing I am interested in. They need a CDL class B driver with a P endorsement, which I have. But the newspaper listing says they will only hire a female driver. Is this legal? Can a company say they only want to hire women or minorities, and male whites can not get hired?

Just shave real close and wear a dress for the interview. After you get hired tell them to go ahead and try to fire you, Johnny Cochrane is your attorney.

I don't see how they can say they will only hire women. It doesn't seem right to me, the other way around either. Usually the most you will see is "Minorities and Women are encouraged to apply" or something like that. 8) 8)

I think the only way they could get away with this is either

a) you're driving a van for female inmates or battered women's shelter victims of domestic(male) violence.

or

b) driving a bus full of female nudest around! in which case they wouldn't be needing to "pay" a male driver for that.

Yes there are circumstances that require only female or male drivers.
Can you site your source for this job listing?

I did a reverse phone number look-up and the phone number in the ad is for Celebrity Transportation Inc, Warrenville, IL.

What passengers would a company called "Celebrity Transport" have that would require only women drivers?

I would have to agree with you there, it sounds like something along those lines.

Do you remember a few years back when this guy tried to sue HOOTERS for not hiring male waiters

I would not waste too much time trying to get hired there but it would be interesting to find out why they want females only. Keep us updated.

I didn't apply for the job and have no intention of doing so. There are enough jobs I can find. It just struck me as interesting that they wanted women only.
