I was looking at some carriers and all this time i have been driving counts for nothing. They say yes you drive out of state and yes you drive far but not daily like otr guys so your time counts for nothing. We dont drive daily like most and we dont have a mc number but its not really local either. And i thought all this time driving to canada for 20+ hours straight counted for something lol. Guess i'm stuck lol. I'm guessing cause i told them we dont pack sleepers we camp at nice hotels.

You might check with some of the smaller carriers if you have had your CDL for at least a couple of years. Most insurance companies only check to see how long you have had your license, not how long you have actually worked. However, some may require you to send them a list of former employers. They may not check them but sometimes like to see what you have been doing the last 2-3 years.

Midnight;

Would a company hire you if you agree to go out with a trainer?? There may be some insurance considerations, but it seems to me that as long as your skills as a driver are up to par, then there shouldn't be a problem.

What puzzles me more than anything is trying to understand why you would be interested in driving OTR. Freight hauling is not the most opportune place to be right now.

Why do you want to go OTR. The job you say you have sounds alot better then any OTR job.

So you have two years with a CDL, can pass a road test and are cpapable of driving 20 hours straight? You have all of the necessary qualifications to be an outlaw produce hauler. Check around for small refirgerated carriers, buy lots of loose leaf log books, and check out the thread on being a BBR to help you choose your wardrobe. :)

I will admit it can be fun and crazy at times which is a good thing lol. But it does have its moments but i wont go into details on a thread as to why i dont like it. Yes 2 have said i would be a short term trainee if i go that route. And yes i can drive that long straight but only cause we have too in some cases. Will i run illegal for a company nope, last time i checked it was my cdl not theirs lol. And yes i can pass a road test as long as i dont have to double clutch anything lol, i was trained not to touch the clutch expect to stop and go lol. If you really want to know as to why i dont love it you can pm and i will tell you but i dont feel the need to spread it on a public forum. Kinda my way of being nice about things.
