So I've seen these white, orange and blue burger places on every street corner in texas. A friend of mine told me that I absolutely needed to go in a get a burger as it will be the best fast food burger ever. This afternoon while bored out of my mind in Laredo, I took a drive downs Mines to get something to eat and saw a Whataburger with a good size lot to park the truck in.
First off, The burger and fries were not bad, but it wasn't that great either. It must be because I'm from california, but not one fast food burger joint has anything on In-n-out.
I have almost all together quit eating fast food but I set aside one day a week that I eat at a fast food place, usually taco bell :P Now I'm upset I wasted my one day on this crap...doh!

 I used to go to them back in the 80's, when I lived in Corpus Christi.
Mel Tillis owned and started them.
With a Texas drawl...it's called "Waterburger."
...but I mainly got the egg and potato breakfast burritos,
with a side of jalapeno's.
mmmmmmmmmmm....jalapeno's...drool
My Texas favorite though, was "Luby's." |

Say what?
Mel Tillis didn't start whataburger. It was started in Corpus Christi and that is still their national headquarters.
A man by the name of Harmon Dobson started it in 1950. |

I have to agree completely. I purposely went to a Whataburger on the advice of someone from Texas who wouldn't shut up about them. I was disappointed. The fries were nothing special at all, and the burger was only marginally better than typical fast food burgers.
If you ever get up into the Wisconsin/Illinois/Michigan/Minnesota area, I do strongly recommend stopping at a Culver's. Order a Butterburger with cheese. Much better than the Whataburger. |

Sorry, but If I want a real burger I go to whataburger.
I grew up in Corpus Christi and on Whataburger's, and tex-mex food. |

| all i remember from whataburger is that i had a serious case of "the runs" a few hours after dining of their crap-ass burgers. i had to quickly pull over on the side of a busy freeway during the night and let'r rip as i wedged myself between the drive tires on the passenger side. in-n-out is nothing special either. their concrete mix shakes are the only thing i consider to be worthy of my money. |

x2. He thinks it is the cat's meow  I was in Harlingen and went and it was so/so.
x2 on the Culver's.
I am a fan of In-N-Out. White Castle is pretty good, for what it is. It isn't a meal to savor, more like glutton on.
For you Southerners, Krystal is White Castle w/o chilli dogs  |

Rev, we've got a Culvers right here in Coralville. Their burgers aren't too bad, but the rib-eye steak sandwich is better and the fries are tops, no doubt. But I think the best thing Culvers has going is the Walleye dinners and sandwiches, when walleye is in season. Mmmmm.mmmmmm.
So, now that you've called out el'Capitan on his Whataburger fixation, is he going to come over here to argue with you? Am I going to have to earn my pay again? It's been awfully quiet lately, so I'm just trying to get an accurate forecast of CAD weather.

| Whataburger AND In-n-out are like most things from two very conceited states that think only their state can produce anything great and if it isn't their way then it should be no way. Both are are over rated and lousy! |

I still like Burger King's Double Whopper with cheese as the tops in the actual BURGER category, even over a any of the high-end restuarant burgers I've had.
That and the Brawny Lad from the old the Big Boy's restuarants. Now those were the days.
*sigh* :? |
